Reef Hawaiian Pro - Day 1
They said the waves were coming so the organisers kept pushing the heats out, yet the anticipated swell came too late. A few four foot sets hit during the final heat but most of the day's competition was held in windy, gutless one-to-two foot slop. It was a long way from standard Hawaiian fare but the pros made a good fist of it, and, it must be said, the ASP photogs make it look a hell of a lot better than it was.
Tomorrow should dawn to a mid-range swell, perfect for performance oriented Haleiwa.
