The surf world is full of impersonators. Travel to any coastline on earth and you're bound to find one of Pipeline's many doppelgangers; there's Mexican Pipe, Aussie Pipe and Sumatran Pipe, amongst others.

Uluwatu is another one that cops the treatment. Here in Sydney we have Elouera-watu and also Mona-watu, while just last week my mate Lucky Al rang me from the south coast and told me Thirroul-awatu was pumping.

But while Al was getting barrelled over sand before heading back to his weatherboard warung, Ben Nothling was in Bali surfing the real thing. Here's a selection of shots from his latest Bali trip. A trip that managed to coincide with a couple of decent swells.// STUART NETTLE
