The webcast commentators made plenty of comparisons to small Bells on Day 1 of the O'Neill Cold Water Classic, and the slow, weak and wobbly waves at Steamer Lane certainly justified the comparison. Despite the lack of ramps a few surfers still scored big by boosting over the lip. Gabriel Medina, in fact, scored 9.43 for a one move wave that was made even more marvellous by virtue of being a left.
