New Year's feast
After watching and waiting for almost a year to travel to this region, the swell and winds finally aligned, but... over the Christmas/New Year holidays.
I was prepared for shoulder-to-shoulder crowds, heavy traffic and a bit of hassling, but surely the length of the intended point break would allow me to snag a couple?
Amazingly the dawn session Saturday was empty with only a handfull of us sharing 3-4ft sets on a building swell. By the time I got out though the crowd was swelling and maxed out at an easy 100, but there were sections left unattended most of the day, and that's where I focussed my attention the next three surfs.
Sunday saw the swell back off and open up more options across the beachies which provided a refreshing change from flawless right walls.
After six sessions in total with around twelve hours water time I was totally surfed out, and it was time to head home.
