Maldives - August Report, 2015
Words and photos by Louis Harris of Liquid Destination:
This was one of the better August we've had in the Maldives in years. Maybe it was our locations this year but I can't remember having so many good size swells with light winds (plus a lot of sheet glass days) during August. It wasn't pumping everyday but when it pretty much blurs into one long charter, you know it must of been good.
We had one of the biggest swells of the year, one that those that who surfed will remember for a while. Think big heavy rights with no one out. We also had so many days where our options were numerous. This is what people pay the money for, surfing multiple waves by yourselves. It's an easy equation if mother nature plays ball and you've done your homework.
It might be a bit early to call, but this season for us has been right up there with the best. Early season was on fire, May was a little shaky but from then on it's been very consistent. We've been lucky enough to have a lot of return guests that we've been able to surf waves they haven't surfed before and that seems to be another factor that keeps the vibe on board so high.
September will be interesting as it has been a bit shaky at first with some odd winds but there's something on the horizon and it ain't over yet, not by a long shot.
