        HIC Pro Sunset: Finals Day

It's been a wet and mouldy early season out on the North Shore, the rain has been both heavy and persistent. It continued through much of the HIC Pro, turning the water chocolate brown at times. On finals day, however, the sun shone through allowing photographers to direct their lenses seaward.

Mason Ho took the final in an all-Hawaiian affair. The 25-year-old scion of Michael Ho, beat Pancho Sullivan, Evan Valiere and Gavin Gillette.

Michael Ho won this event four times between 1988 and 1996, and now Mason becomes the 30th name on the HIC Pro winner's cup. Mason earnt $15,000 and wildcards into the first two events of the prestigious Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. More trivia: Michael Ho won the inaugural Triple Crown back in 1983 - 30 years ago.
