Front Row View
The southern half of NSW is coming off the back of the best days of surfing so far this year. A large low pressure system kicked up a swell from one of the hidden corners of our swell window, underneath NZ's South Island.
The swell, when it did arrive, was a long interval beauty. The period was well into the teens, the direction an ideal SE and the local winds were, for the most part, offshore.
The size between Wollongong and Newcastle hovered between 6' – 8' for three days while, further north the size tapered off but the quality was even better.
Duncan Macfarlane donned the flippers and housed his camera to get us a front row view of the action around his mid-North Coast home.//STUART NETTLE
