Fiji Pro Day 1 photos
With a dire outlook for the second half of the waiting period the organisers of the Fiji Pro were forced to sound the horn for Round 1 of the Fiji Pro. Conditions were less than dreamy with a stiff tradewind "blowing the mussels off the rocks" as Jordy Smith said in his post heat interview.
Old Jordy scored the wave of the round, a 9.20 for a deep barrel with a clean exit. Other notable performances were put in by Kelly Slater, whose knowledge of Cloudbreak saw every good wave come his way, and Mitch Coleborn who also benefitted from experience - he was a wildcard here for two years previous.
