Descent into the maelstrom - photos
The entire East Coast has felt the full effects of a very strong and powerful synoptic setup. Gale to severe-gales feeding into a deep trough along the Eastern Seaboard kicked up massive and unruly storm surf from the Sunshine Coast to Tasmania.
Winds swung offshore across the Queensland and northern NSW coast this morning, but the Sydney region south continued to cop the brunt of the system, producing some of the biggest storm surf in recent history.
This gallery captures more the unruly and victory at sea conditions seen around Manly this afternoon, with no surfable options beside novely harbour breaks. This evening winds will swing offshore, and we'll wait to see what tomorrow brings.
