Alex Cleland
After a sea change to the Victorian coastal town of Lorne in 2006, I quickly developed a deep affection for the ocean and surfing. Employment at the Lorne Surf Shop gave me the opportunity to engage in an industry I am passionate about, and the flexibility to enjoy surfing and the annual pilgrimages to Sumatra. I lead a lifestyle based on the alliance of family and friends, surfing, hang gliding, travel, fitness, music and art.
I was given the opportunity to take my travels, photography and films to another creative level with my friends in the Banyak Islands on their new surf charter vessel, Pulse, as the on-board photographer. I returned a fortnight ago after eight months straight on the boat. Here is a small showcase highlighting the imagery of the Banyak Islands and surrounding regions. A dream job it was, but after two seasons I missed my adopted home of Lorne and my friends so much even the perfect, crystalline barrels of Treasure Island couldn't stop me from returning home.
I would like to thank the owners of Pulse for the opportunity of a lifetime and memories I will never forget. The Pulse team have vast experience in the Banyak Islands and can be considered as one of, if not the best surf charter operation in Indonesia .
