To the naked eye, there’s not much that’s changed here at the contest site. Sure it's bigger, but it's not otherworldly bigger. To use cows as a comparison, last year’s site was a Hereford, and this year’s site is a Brahman. So we’re a little bit bigger, sure. But we’re not much better. How can it be, after all we’re still just surfing?

Swellnet forecaster Craig Brokensha just returned from a two week trip to Japan. While there he mangled the language, violated ancient customs, and even copped a nasty chopstick injury. He also scored a few bluebird days in the ranges and some five degree peaks north of Tokyo.

It's in the fine print. It always is. The ASP sent out media accreditation to the Quiksilver Pro, and there it was, in 8 point font buried within the terms and conditions, cold manifestation of the ASP's new media deal. Peter' Joli' Wilson gives his thoughts.
