South West Rocks Country Club Charged In Relation To Death Of Chris Davidson
The South West Rocks Country Club is facing a string of charges relating to the death of former professional surfer Chris Davidson on its premises.
The 45-year-old died outside the venue in September last year, after being allegedly punched and hitting his head on the pavement.
A 42-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault causing death.
Now, following a police investigation, the Country Club has been charged with sixteen offences in relation to the incident.
They include a licensee permitting indecency or violence on licensed premises, five counts of a licensee failing to comply with conditions of a licence, and ten counts of a club breaching registered club rules.
The matter will be mentioned in Kempsey Local Court on March 9.

wouldn't be an investigation if he weren't a quasi-celebrity...shame everyone doesn't get that level of diligence
Actually incorrect. The liquor and gaming side of NSW Police are very thorough on any deaths at licenced venues. They should have kicked both out way earlier in the night.
Never heard of him
These sorts of events at licensed venues come under huge scrutiny, not just from a legal perspective but also puts their gaming and liqueur licence in jeopardy (as it should).
Many years ago, I remember Crescent Head Country Club copping the same treatment from the justice system over the death of a policeman.
So sad to remember such a wonderful surfer with the mental image of another one of those depressing, carpeted, gambling holes.
Billie, check your compass matey, he was on the child sex offender register. Yeah, he ripped, but he was a rock spider
I know the story. Chris was being a pest, trying to snavell the guys wife. Was warned to back off. Didn't. Was removed from premises, hung around outside, told to move on, was still there when guy came out and you know the ending. Both parties in the wrong. Can't help feeling sorry for the guy, now in jail. Friends drove hours to visit him, were a minute late for the scheduled visit and told ' bad luck' and drove hours home. Hopefully the story was passed to me accurately, but sounds like Davo was the instigator, and maybe deserved a knock on the chin, but not this. Not sure if I should be posting this.
