The Inaugural Swellness Summit
Ain’t That Swell’s inaugural Swellness Camp will bring together some of the surf community’s biggest names to share their techniques for living, loving, surfing, and surviving.
Using everything at our disposal we aim to provide guests with the ultimate guide to feeling swell and send an army of DIY healers back into their respective communities armed with the latest tools for surviving and thriving in a complicated world. Free tickets will also be given to select financially disadvantaged and/or down on their luck individuals, as per our ‘Golden Ticket’ program, to make sure the right people get the help they need. This is The Swellian’s – Jed and Vaughan - attempt to give back to the community that has supported them thus far and leave a resoundingly positive imprint on the minds and bodies of all those that have been kind enough to come on the journey with them.
The Golden Age of Biohacking
Through podcasts, the internet, and the convergence of science with ancient healing techniques, humanity has arrived at a golden age of self-help and biohacking. We will package all of this up neatly and deliver it to our guests. For three days Swellness guests will literally live and breathe good physical and mental health before returning to their respective surf communities and continuing to spread the good word and, more importantly, good action.
Daily Program and Guests
Each morning will start with a round of Wim Hoff breathing and Ice Baths followed by a group meditation led by two-time World Champion, Tom Carroll. From there Bra Boy, big wave maniac and former UFC fighter, Richie Vaculik, will put us through a brutal workout, followed by breakfast, and free time for our guests to luxuriate in our film or meditation space, or scour the abundant coastline of Crescent Head for waves. The afternoon will feature seminars, films and bands.
Swellness Seminars will feature the likes of two-time world champion, Tom Carroll, discussing the science of meditation and the wisdom accrued over the course of his remarkable career. Californian surf icon, Brad Gerlach, will be talking about the ups and downs of his time on and off tour, including a spell of depression, while also taking us through the finer points of his cutting-edge Wave Ki program.
Australian Surfing Hall of Famer, Jodie Cooper, and skitz slab queen, Laura Enever, will talk us through their brand of stoic resilience and how to survive and thrive in a challenging world.
Former World Tour icons, Dean Morrison and Nathan Hedge, will join the likes of Tom Carroll for seminars covering everything from Drugs, Depression, Addiction, Meditation, Toxic Masculinity, and the Road to Recovery.
A representative from the Veteran Surfers Association will deliver a seminar on surviving PTSD and how surfing has enriched the lives of ex-servicemen. We will have a plant medicine expert to bring us up to speed with the latest science on the efficacy of mother nature to heal and help us prosper.
Underground surfing icons, Jarrah Tutton, Asher Pacey, and Josh Ku, will talk us through the art of hunting, gathering and permaculture, while also preparing a fresh kill over the fire (deer and various species of fish, we’ve been told).
There will be a live Podcast on the Sunday, film screenings, bands, the lighting of the ceremonial Swellness torch, and many more feel good shenanigans.
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMADDDDDDDDD

Comments
Needs a few more sessions to be just perfect:
- The art of dropping in by Occy
- how big wave heroism and believing that “the most qualified person should get the wave” perpetuates stereotypical “devastating” elements of macho surf culture by producing “microaggressions” that proclaim “individualism, the Protestant work ethic, capitalism, monotheism, [the] written tradition,” and is actually an attitude that discourages liberation, transformation, and decolonization whilst fostering gender stereotypes, encouraging marginalisation of kooks thereby inhibiting societal progress.
Ha ha- if the surf turns on that weekend they can all skip the lessons and take lessons in taking their turn or watching the locals take all the set waves.
Adversity builds resilience.
Followed by an afternoon full of Shaka's, Cheers Bro's & Bum Taps.
lmao "the written tradition" haha
faark that first bullet point made me laugh!
I thought it was a piece of comic writing, maybe it is.

Wait, is this actually not a piss-take?
Exactly what i did, I'm speechless.
I was fully expecting the dulcet tones of Rick Astley.

3 days at an unpowered camping site is $250.
surfing’s circle jerk
I used to be an avid listener but
they really lost me when they shout down capitalism then next minute they cut to a sports bet ad (even more insulting is that the freedom sounds of some dub/reggae music playing behind the ad)
I used to find the podcast at times hilarious but now way too much fapping over the WSL for my liking. The Grit is now my preferred podcast. Solid piss take on all things surfing.
But good on Jed and Vaughn for trying something new and power to them for trying to improve mental health outcomes in young men.
But I won’t be attending for 2 reasons.
1: I find pro surfers are quite boring people outside of the surf realm and don’t exist in the real world. They generally also have the mindset and intellectual ability of 14 year old boys. There is only so much surfer bro talk I can handle and I prefer too seek wisdom and inspiration from non surf industry people that aren’t just paid to surf and travel the world.
2: the event costs $300
Good luck to them.
Sounds like my version of Hell.
This isn’t a takedown but….why get crew who lost themselves to addiction to talk about addiction? Sounds like asking someone who smokes in bed for their advice on home fire safety. . I never understood the concept of listening to the “survivors” when there’s a world of supremely fit and healthy people who spot the obvious pitfalls from a mile away and simply avoid them in the first place. Sally Fitzgibbons is the Pro they should be getting to talk about addiction and health.
No offence and all respect to those who have come back from addiction.
It’s called lived experience and within the drug and alcohol and sometimes mental health sector lived experience is almost an essential criteria.
The reason being is someone with lived experience can better comprehend that dark place and time that someone with alcohol or other drug problems may be stuck in. Having someone relatable who has come
back from the bottom shows that it is possible for them to break out of the cycle.
A clean cut fit, healthy do gooder just isn’t relatable for someone with AOD issues and often will just make them feel worse about themselves. It’s different for everyone though.
That cracked me up, DSDS :-)
And I think you have a very good point, but (with all due respect) anything that smacks of victimhood sells these days.
Maybe they should consider having two persons with different perspectives on it:
- How I avoided addiction and depression through discipline/hard work/etc etc
- How to dig yourself out of the black hole you slid into
Maybe It's the concept of those who have lived it are the most qualified to speak about it. Most people know that experience is the best teacher.
I'm not putting them down- if people can find answers to very complex problems they have there and have some fun at the same time, more power to them. Just not my cup of tea is all.
If you are trying to recover from addiction or any type of life problem the last thing you want to listen to is someone who hasn't been through what are going through telling you that you shouldn't have got yourself in that situation in the first place.
But if you want to not fall into that dark pit, learning from someone that didn't might be just the thing.
The opposite of an ambulance at the bottom of the cliff.
I understand what you are trying to say but unfortunately it’s not really how it works for most people. Often you don’t realise your addicted and the problems it’s causing until your deep in the grips of it. Also add a co-existing mental illness into the equation and it’s a bit more complicated than simply just having a conscious decision that you shouldn’t do drugs coz sally fitz told you not to. Positive role models are a good start nonetheless.
Very true. My question though, is this really designed for people with serious mental health or addiction issues and is this mis-match of people the right group to deliver a solution ? It all sounds a bit wacky with whoever has a product to sell invited and lack of people actually qualified to help
Times 1,000 Finnbob.
People who have never been there know nothing about how to avoid it.
What a dumb fucking question
What a load of SHITE

Good link Suchas.
Timothy Learys biography "Flashbacks'' is well worth a read.
not sure if it's a piss take or legit.
I honestly thought this was a piss take/satire type thing, even had a giggle at the location thinking Crescent head kinda clever Byron would be too obvious.
But clicked link and WTF....its real???
Just deleted everything I was going to post because it seemed too harsh.
In any case, I think the general concept of this event is laudable but would be better with a bit more thought and nuance.
*delete*
Anyway, has potential but looks weird.
Edit - Actually, after reading that for maybe the fifth time, there's barely anything there that's not a bit freaky.
Hope the boys pin their deer in the Nambucca valley. Fuckers are going nuts out there.
DSDS. Deer everywhere mate. I live on the edge of a national park, always just about right on first light in the morning they are in herds of 3-4 and sometimes 15-20, As light increases they just completely disappear and not to be found or heard, they are brilliant at stealth and not revealing themselves or locale. They are ring barking mostly Eucalyptus sp. trees with their antler rubbing. They quickly need to be eradicated. Speaking of ‘carcasses’, I think your lovely lady at LP may have met him for the first time without knowing who he is, be careful he’s got serious history. Keep well
especially looking forward to the session on preparing a fresh deer kill - looks fun and will lead to some feel good shenanigans I'm sure:
&t=6sA representative from the Veteran Surfers Association will deliver a seminar on surviving PTSD and how surfing has enriched the lives of ex-servicemen. We will have a plant medicine expert to bring us up to speed with the latest science on the efficacy of mother nature to heal and help us prosper.
this is something i admire. but not sure about the hunter/gatherer thing.
Why?
Humans are hunter gatherers. That’s not an ethical stance it’s anthropological fact.
I hope they get the deer that’s been smashing my passion fruit vines. You’d think the meat would have to be pretty sweet.
Sounds like you want payback!
Don't get me wrong, even though i don't eat it. I have more respect for someone who legit hunts their meal and preparing it from beginning to end. This is an extremely minor percentage of people.
Majority of people like to claim being a hunter/gatherer after they visit a butcher.
Finally, we don't need meat to survive. Humans should leave animals the fuck alone. There's a million other things people can bond over rather than watching a few washed up pro surfers kill and eat an innocent animal.
You can still hunter/gather in Tassie - they have the signs to prove it. Me and the missus headed out early one morning trying to forage for some breakfast truffles and red wine in the local paddock but unfortunately came up short. We ended up at the Pipers River store having dim sums and potato cakes instead!!!
We thought Forage sounded interesting when we were in Tassie but Siri must’ve misheard us over the noise of the car and directed us to Fromage instead. Turned out to be quite a pretty little town , though not as cheesy as we’d hoped. Certainly not as cheesy as the shoulder to shoulder crowded streets of Frottage that’s for sure.
Deer in Australia and NZ are pests and do more damage than good. Hunting is good to control numbers.
as much as i'm a fan of stalking deer. Hunting does sweet FA for control unfortunately. Numbers are plague and we ain't seen nothing yet. Not good.
Another introduced species into Australia by man. just like you toady. lucky we can return you to NZ
Oh deer.
woke wankness.
"We will have a plant medicine expert to bring us up to speed with the latest science on the efficacy of mother nature to heal and help us prosper." = questionable science.

"Eat Pray Cone" as their marketing strap line?
If I understand the reference to "cone" correctly this would be antithetical to the reasons for their event - or is there a wellness version of "cone" that I'm not up to speed with?
Legislation is changing , the weed industries of the future need networking events too.
Think of this as an entrepreneur's retreat maybe?
Didn't Churchill say "we will hunt them on the beaches?"
Was a big ATS fan but Jed’s constant bringing up on every single podcast of how he’s a battler from a single parent home in a housing commission eventually wore me down. Fuck mate we get it, just no need to weave it into every conversation you have. Plenty of people grew up with fuck all.
And now they are advertising betting on horse racing to keep the dollars coming in?
So true. He tries bring class into every discussion. It’s comically tiresome.
Those “Greatest Stories Never Told” narrations he does are so bad.

The latest release from the Aint That Swell team has revealed that another special seminar has been added to the inaugural Wellness Camp's already bulging itinerary.
'99 World Champ Mark "Occy" Occhilupo will be joined by none other than the World Surfing League's Head of Competition, Jessi Miley-Dyer to discuss the latest trend taking the wellness industry by storm, intermittent fasting.
Intermittent fasting (IF) is currently one of the world’s most popular health and fitness fads and people are using it to lose weight, improve their health and simplify their lifestyles.
Many studies show that it can have powerful effects on your body and brain and may even help you live longer.
Occy and Miley-Dyer will discus which body types benefit most from different styles of fasting, and will also share their knowledge on other well know diets such as the Tapeworm Diet, the Air Diet and the Clay Diet, and how these diets can work together to remove toxins and heavy metals from your body, and cleanse the liver.
Gluten free and paleo snacks will be available and are complimentary with every full-price adult ticket.
Dr Occy and Dr Miley-Dyer.
The two biggest salad dodgers are offering dietary advice?
True story, I swear.
I'm surprised Pete Evans and Jack Freestone are not holding a seminar also.
Did the council tar the backroad so they could facillitate events like this?
Just needs some UFO headcase to create the ultimate Joe Rogan cricle jerk.
Yeah there's a fair bit of Joe Rogan in this.
You're joking, right? From what I've seen of Joe Rogan he would fucken skewer these guys.
Ice baths, Wim Hoff, medicinal pot, bow hunting - that's all very Rogan, no?
True. I was thinking of fluffier stuff on the agenda.
I dare say Rogan would have zero time for singing Kumbaya if that's what you're getting at.
Judging by his bromance with Jocko Willink he'd be more about "waging war on your weakness" :)
On a tangent, this is kinda interesting, a little surprising.
Jocko and Jordan Peterson finding common ground.
Curious.
Mind you, don't be fooled, they're not face to face.
I think i listened to the Joe Rogan Podcast with Jocko but otherwise not that familiar with him, but if he is into personal development ect then it wouldn't surprise me, Jordan gets a lot of media attention for political and social aspects, but a lot of his videos and books ect are on self development/improvement side of things.
hahaha not one to join a pile on but fuck me this is a bit of wank innit

Who had a harder post career ?
Guys like XXXX who had to attend their events in perpetual party animal character and, irrespective of mood, were expected to rack up powder, smash endless piss and give the strange punters the “Rock and roll or don’t fucken come vibe”, or these modern post career pros who have to carry themselves like wise monks before the insufferable puritans of the wellness cult?
Who do you reckon would be more likely to snap: XXXX after he’s had a blue with his missus that morning and then had to go and paint on the smile and indulge the 500th middle-aged drunk demanding he do the cream puff tree routine, or Tom Carroll after some over earnest, tie-dye wearing New Ager humbugs him for hours until he takes their wellness confessional and they break down in tears as they describe their weaknesses in eating an evil custard tart from the Creso Bakery that morning…..”I feel so impure Tom! “
Crescent got Byron'd. We hardly knew ye...

And what a pack of scrotums they are.

Sell sell sell
Every one of those expert presenting will be there to sell their course, training, product, consults. This really looks like Tony Robbins for surfer wannabes.
Cutting edge science - no much me thinks.
….and I have a real issue with promoting gambling and pot use while preaching about addiction and recovery.
Dare one dip one’s lid to the Woz here? One assumes it hasn’t been short of offers to take on one of the ubiquitous online sports betting companies as an ‘official partner’. Unlike most of its betters, and just about anyone to do with pro sport really, seems the Woz has resisted making a deal with the devil. The Woz and Kylian Mbappé, leading the resistance?
Ha you found a post I’ve about the WSL
….but probably only because up until very recently you couldn’t bet on surfing in the USA
Didn’t think I’d see something as chunder-inducing as a couple of the yoga ‘industry’ events I’ve been to.
Now I have.
Shearer has a guernsey right? We will get a review of this event yeah? You kit your crew in kevlar for such instances Ben i assume?
I’ll pitch in some shekels
Perspective, inner truth (& comedy) is freely available; as in stories from Dali Lama...
“Western civilization, including America, is very much oriented toward materialistic life,” he says. “But that culture generates too much stress, anxiety and jealousy, all these things. So my No. 1 commitment is to try to promote awareness of our inner values.” From kindergarten onward, he says, children should be taught about “taking care of emotion.”
“Whether religious or not, as a human being we should learn more about our system of emotion so that we can tackle destructive emotion, in order to become more calm, have more inner peace.”
“Sometimes my tutor kept a whip to threaten me,” the Dalai Lama recalls, smiling. “The whip was yellow in color, as it was for a holy person, the Dalai Lama. But I knew that if the whip was used, it made no difference — holy pain!”

3 that need to be there - Westerley Windina - Carcass and Tommy Peterson.
Haha, we were talking about that this afternoon, Carcass rocking up.
"Right youse cunce, get outta me way. Where's that Cooper sheila, I'm gonna fuckin throw er head first in the ice bath.
Then I'm goin to that fuckin toxic fuckin masculinity seminar thing.
Fuckin bewdy".
Carcass was a fantastic shaper, glasser and sander.....
Locals are territorial where ever you go, no matter their ability ....
There's varying degrees of territorialism. I once made the mistake of resting my board and wetty on a particular rock next to a certain panganis that he claimed to have planted in the 60's! He flung the board despite me sitting there metre's away. Be careful which rock you sit on when blowing through Lennox :) haha
Still a JERK but. Localism anywhere wrecks it for all. How about just respecting everyone who users the coast and drop this crap about “Respect the Locals”. On way too many occasions here and in Indo I’ve witnessed way too many surfers, mostly Australians, not respecting the locals. Blowing up over trivial shit.
So you’re saying that we should respect the locals?
AndyM. Hope ya well. What I’m saying is don’t disrespect others just so you can get your wave count through the roof, we’ve all been beginners at some stage of our surfing life and at any one time in the surf there’s definitely varying degrees of skill amongst the cohort. You are clever with your question that’s for sure, good one.
Fucking cracked me up with that statement below.
. “If you not spending enough, you are not happy !! The American and Australian way for sure.
"If you not spending enough, you are not happy !! "
Yeah I was kidding with this one but also not, obviously this sentiment is pretty much the basis of advertising, and now the wellness industry has taken it a step further and is even more explicit with its commercialisation of happiness, and of course it's all come from the U.S.
No wonder mental illness is through the roof.
So now we're supposedly looking to treat mental illness by means of conspicuous consumption and the following of fashion.
To me, it's quite arse about.
As for localism, when you say " Localism anywhere wrecks it for all", I really have to disagree.
If you'd said thuggery and intimidation wreck it for all, I'd agree.
And when you say don’t disrespect others just so you can get your wave count through the roof, I agree.
But I see bog standard localism as a definite positive.
I think a solid group of residents who keep order and manners in the lineup is a must.
You just have to look at places where order has broken down and it's a horror show.
But yeah I agree that unwarranted disrespect and intimidation is really lame.
Cheers Alfred.
AndyM. Hi mate. Great points you make .On the coast I surf, I’ve noticed over a period of the last 30 years that localism has basically disappeared to the point where it’s very rare to see a blow up in the water, 99% of the time, whilst waiting for sets, the chin wagging and discussion on any or every topic is always joyous to be part of, a real sense of unity and belonging to a clan sharing the same motives, that is to surf and have fun. Pretty basic.
It’s always nice to hear crew applauding a surfers effort or just a quick passing comment like ‘great wave mate’ or similar when they paddle back to the line up. For most of us surfers, we know it’s not a competition.
Hi Alfred, I suspect we have slightly different definitions of localism.
Where I live, there are lots of transient surfers coming and going.
The locals generally (but not always) have already worked out a pecking order.
The problem is when people start doing laps and "jumping the queue".
Naturally, if they're a visitor or a local who's out of order, someone might have a word to them.
Not necessarily an aggressive one, but a "hey mate, do you realise you're being rude and disrespectful?"
From there, it's generally up to the response of the interloper and the status and disposition of the person doing the calling out.
For sure there's less violence in Australian surfing than there was 30 years ago but if the locals band together and you get dropped in on every wave, you might as well go in.
I came in from a surf at Lennox and some weirdo had told my lady that she was sitting on his log on the point. He was about sixty years old a few years ago. He told her he owned a house on the hill there somewhere.
DSDS. Hi. I guess who that may be ?
Did he hit on her?
If it's the fella I'm thinking of, it wouldn't surprise me if he did.
DSDS & AndyM. I’m pretty sure we all know who it is. Leopards never change their spots !!!
He's a bad, bad man!
Issues!!!
I didn’t know who it was, I never saw the bloke. My partner reckons he was just some local weirdo. Not much chance of winning a girl over by acting less sane than Jeff Dahmer about a log on a point. Hardly got described as the lady killing type.
As the saying goes….”Any more inbred and he’d be a sandwich.”
Ha ha! Never heard that one.
“Western civilization, including America, is very much oriented toward materialistic life,”
Just remember, if you're not spending enough, you're not happy.
The sad mantra of the MMMOOSS
ex pro flotsam and jetsam on full display.
Must Make Money Out Of Surfing Somehow
I can picture them all around the camp fire each night and to some throat singing background chant
MMMOOSS, MMMOOSS, MMMOOSS
9 to 5 ain't so bad
Huge fan of this acronym.
Yep. Pretty awesome
As I read the story I could sort of hear the mournful cry of the MMMOOSS crowd:
I'll go if they put Occy in an Octagon with Richie.
Im hoping everyone has an opportunity to evolve.
I started swimming with googles, then got a blow-up mat, then single fins, then thrusters...
The only crowd underwater are the fish, so its full circle.... soon as summer crowds arrive.

I think I just got more "wellness" from a half hour nerf-gun battle with the Misso and kids [boys v. girls for all you gender ambivalent] than I would get out of a weekend of that shite.
Some whimsical comments, but typical pile on of pack mentality, typical with this website, where mob mentality quashes spirtuality and open mindedness daily.
I'd argue it's those that spend most of their waking hours on an online surfing website that probably would benefit the most from 'getting out' and maybe accepting that there are those that are trying to make a difference and help others. Maybe the means to the end leaves a bit to be desired from our own biased perspectives...but still..not a skerrick of open mindedness on here to the fact that there are those that suffer from severe mental anxiety, debilitating mental and social illness (especially post fake flu) and that something like this that at least is trying to incorporate a different perspective is considered 100percent bad and the good in it can't also be observed. . And you lot think you're the deep thinkers of society. Ha!
But yeah... why leave the mens shed when all you need is right here...at your fingertips....right boiiiis?? ;-)
I think you might need a different perspective on a what a different perspective is. Cause this ain't it. Esoteric thinking might open up some new markets and make a few individuals a buck, but it's not solving any problems.
Although I do feel less anxious and better about things from laughing so hard.
Paul McD , they do talk the talk around mental health, but as others here have said - its really hard to take them seriously when they openly promote gambling for financial gain on their ATS show .
Never thought of myself as a deep thinker, or claimed as much?
You making assumptions without knowing anything again Paul?
Typical?
If Paul wad an open minded deep thinker , he might come to the realisation that for some people, Swellnet might sometimes serve the same purpose the Creso Circus purports to strive.
Paul McDickhead missing the irony…hardly surprising.
Roadkill. PaulMcD is a thoughtful and considerate commenter whose intelligence way surpasses your Dickhead comment, only you know who the real DICKHEAD is.
i agree.
Funny, burleigh..your comments re violence and punching in the other thread are pretty weak now you agree here after Paul Mcd called for me to be dealt to?
burleigh, Is violence OK when it suits you? pissweak never to call out threats when you could...yet here you are supporting someone who makes threats?
What are you on about? What threats?
Numerous times by 3 different individuals I was threatened and told I needed to be dealt to and beaten in the COVID thread. Often the posts were about what people would do if they meet me…no one was ever pulled up or told to pull their heads in, you laughed and replied in the positive and encouraged it all…yet now a surfer dies and you post how bad it all is and how unacceptable it is…and never once condemned any spoken threats or posts. What a hypocrite you are. You cry and post for effect and choose to ignore and look the other way often.
I must be missing something then..as the last time I talked to him he wanted /threatened to beat the fuck out of me and hoped I got what I was due?
no surprise you would support him, AlfredWallace.
Roadkill. I’ll support anyone, including you, who offer considerate thoughts on commenting on any topic.
Ive always used this quote my grandmother in Apollo bay used to say.
‘Make sure your brain is engaged before you put your mouth into gear’. Salient advice i reckon. Hope you are well. AW
I get what you're saying, but the thing most likely to improve everyone's mental health is changes to their material reality: stable and secure housing, income security, reliable public services when we need them. Dunking yourself in an iced bath can feel good, but if you're going back to an overpriced share house with no renters rights or a low paying job that doesn't cover the bills anymore while your teeth fall out of your head because dental care is too expensive it doesn't achieve much.
"but still..not a skerrick of open mindedness on here to the fact that there are those that suffer from severe mental anxiety, debilitating mental and social illness (especially post fake flu)"
It seems a bit of a contradiction to be preaching about being aware of these things while calling Covid the fake flu and not being aware that no matter your own views the first strain and delta was very serious for some people many people died and many like my wife's mother came very close, just remember there could be someone out there reading that has lost a loved one to Covid.
Yep it's still very real for the immune suppressed, incorporating that line takes any high ground out of his comment and bins it.
So is the flu or any other virus.
Seriously Paul if us Swillnutters and our SN Men’s Shed are affecting you this much you are free to disengage. Actually I implore you to for your own mental health. All these comments/commentators are doing is pointing out pro surfing hangers on displaying obvious hypocrisy and cashing in on infamy (how very woke of them!)
P.s I’ve never heard anyone shitcan a Men’s Shed at all given all the great things they do for men battling boredom, loneliness and mental illness, as well as helping out the greater community by making/fixing things. Another example of your misguided missives mate. And yes I’ve got a diagnosed mental illness that me and my family deal with daily and have recently lost a close mate to suicide so please get on your high horse and disappear.
Paul. This a safe place. Please lower your tone.
Good call Paul. We should be more open minded about getting spiritual advice from Dingo, the bloke who delights in consistently burning his fellow surfers worse than an eight hour bareback surf session in the Mentawais.
I ain’t taking spiritual advice from a cunt in the surf. And Dingo I’m sorry to say is a cunt in the surf
It’s like a town bike giving you relationship advise
Re: dingo.
Has anyone ever called him out on said behaviour. He sure ain’t the staunchest fella… ?

The thing is Paul in the past you have proven to be, shall we say, overly credulous in some regards.
The wellness industry scam is worth over 4 trillion $. So many stupid and guidable people happy to pass over their money to snake oil sellers of hope.
lol. this may be true however you're the peanut that defended the big pharma 1.27 TRILLION dollar industry over the last two years.
If you live in a glass house, don't throw rocks toady.
I’m not defending them…they are regulated though which gives some protection…the wellness industry do as they please.
I put you in both the stupid and gullible category, burleigh.
You are the one that whinges and hates on them, but would be first in line to take their products when needed. Much like you whinging about getting vaxxed but jabbed your kids to get family tax benefit A.

Roadkill - the bloke who wont take a vitamin because "wellness" but will take 4 jabs of an experimental vaccine because the TV told him too. LMAO

Perhaps Baz Cornell could drop in at the Wellness retreat?
… ‘tis closer than that. ( highway upgrades considered )
Lot of expansion in the Wellness Industry at the moment. Bit of a shame to see that some promoters with less integrity have entered the space. We here at Blowin Holistic Self Empowerment (Tm) have another workshop lined up for later this year after experiencing such success with our previous Eco-retreat for the budding Suburban Shamans out there. So many great stories of returning to their home beaches and really being able to reach out to those around them with the gifts they gained from our last group meeting. Details forthcoming of our next event.
Here’s a few snapshots from last year to get you all keen! Stay strong ….the truth of your personal journey lies within!

Vulnerable, scared and people in pain are easy prey.
you didnt google very hard. The biggest fine in history ever paid was by pfizer. 2.3 Billion for false claims.
Yet you get the shit jammed deep into your veins. Vulnerable, scared and easy prey.
I think you will find the assholes from Purdue paid 4.5 billion and recently had it increased to 6 billion. They got off easily and should have been locked up with the keys thrown away.
You get into the occasional homeopathic lager Burls?
Inside the Swellness Medical Tent..
Swellnet will be thrilled about all the excitement to attend this event.
Hahahah
If the swellness summit stop's one person from dying in similar circumstance's to Chris Davidson, John Shimooka i'd deem it a success, Glad to see these guy's stepping up and heading into uncharted water's, although the gambling aspect need's to be completely dropped like a hot potato.
Unlikely. $350 on a wellness summit or $350 at the pub. Pub wins every time and that’s just for normal people, it’s not even a question for a pisshead.
Swellness on face-value, I see an absence of evidence-based practice and expert consultants.
Deciding whose better suited to provide wisdom could come down to the function that they serve. I would also offer that those who have never been there may indeed have the right formula for those seeking help. Afterall, those that have been there dont need to be re-told their experience. They do need empathy though. So there is a place for survivors and success stories. The fact they are there seeking help warrants positive models. You dont teach people not what to do.
However, this alone wont do. There still needs to be a conceptually consistent framework and I doubt they'd be connecting their personal experiences to conceptually consistent frameworks nor evidence base. I dare say this cohort at Swellness dont have the quals to be offering such alone. They may inspire people and normalise help-seeking behaviours at best. For that I give them credit. Its better than upholding a piss-head culture. However, the recipe for overcoming mental health issues they provide may infact downplay the severity and complexity of mental health issues. It may even invalidate individual experience.
I see this a lot in society. People flock to celebrity key note speakers with lived experience and minimal education. No ice bath infused with lavender after wasting a morning meditating is going to cure mental health issues. To think that it will negates the many possible contributing factors: neuro-biological, psychological, and social.
Well said Crab

Doesn't seem to be any rain gauges in the Crescent Head region, but Seven Oaks (just north, on the Lower Macleay River) picked up 69mm overnight, Maria River (just south) picked up 44mm, and Kempsey Airport picked up 48mm.
Camping may have been a little soggy.
