Watch: Kauli Vaast // Season
It speaks to how short Teahupoo is when it's top local, the guy who'd get more sets than anyone, and during one of the better seasons in recent memory, plays his highlights clip and it clocks in at just 1:38.
Vaast just won the Tahiti Trials scoring an invite to the main event. He's seeded against Ethan Ewing and Barron Mamiya in Heat 2, and with the back end of the waiting period looking more lively you'd assume he's a good chance to progress.

How’s the spit on that beast about 45 secs !!
Pitty this guys has been over looked for some one who is closer to accessing their super than being at their peak.
Do you mean that dude who won the Pipeline Pro in Feb '22 ?
Yeah, I dunno who it was, but he’s pretty good. No one can say greatest of all time, unless they have a time machine or something- and see the future- and what about all the unknown surfers!! Haha, who controls the media? The fact is I pulled off the best manoeuvre I have ever experienced “witnessed” although I sort of didn’t really witness it, but sort of did at the same time. I’ll bet lots of surfers will have similar experiences- and that’s what it’s really about- not claiming or waving your arms to a crowd, it’s more like quietly being filled up by nature and taking it all in. You achieved nothing, because there was nothing to achieve you just experience something. Experiences are readily shared but NOT achievements
(Although they should be). So I try to avoid achievements because the sharing spirit is stolen. It’s the merchandising of spirit that needs to be avoided. Nearly every indigenous person will understand what I’m saying. Some of these things are sacred to people.
He meant Hedgey no bbird?
Birds eye view of that wave hitting the reef
Unbelievable skills and timing - and waves!
So far from how and what I surf.
Was that him riding switch at 0.56s!
