'Facing Monsters' Gold Coast Screening Flood Appeal

Tonight on the Gold Coast, the Kerby Brown biopic Facing Monsters will screen at Pacific Fair. Following the widespread flooding, Event Cinemas have decided to donate 100% of all proceeds from this show to the QLD/NSW Floods Appeal - organised via the Red Cross.

The show will also feature a Q&A with Kerby.

Book tickets here.

"Facing Monsters digs deep into the psyche of enigmatic West Australian ‘slab wave’ surfer Kerby Brown, a man whose connection with the ocean runs as deep as his love for his family. This film is far more than just a surfing story. It’s an unapologetic musing into the essence of Kerby and his family as we join them on his quest to ride a ferocious slab wave in the deep Southern Ocean that no one on the planet has surfed before. It’s a film about fear, addictions, and family bonds as we explore what drives Kerby, what anchors him and why he’s obsessed with pitting himself against one of nature’s most intimidating forces."

What a great gesture by Kerby and crew, well done lads. I wish facing monsters was getting screened in kalbarri or gero though.

Kerby seems like a good bloke , but his Missus seems like a legend. Look forward to checking this. Talk about living on the edge. I hope this family has a happy ending. Yo.

Hey Goofy. Just got it as a Chrissy gift. Best surf movie i've ever seen. Hands down. And great to see my backyard shining in all it's glory. It's the sort of flick that'll have us looking in our own mirror. Thanks Kerbs. Nothing braver than a man who can speak his truth and walk it too. Warrior.

i'd like to know whether he got sucked over after pulling through that wave. also cant understand why he charges such heavy waves that are mostly lacking in quality. if you have no fear go surf chopes - at least its a perfect barrel

"if you have no fear go surf chopes - at least its a perfect barrel"

pretty sure he has, and probably finds it too easy
