Spot on TBB - Zuckerberg, Facebook, and now Meta, should reel it in...Real sour taste. While
watching I kept thinking of the movie The Fifth Element, and how we are hurtling towards that clusterf**k of a society at warpspeed. Although the movie was fun watching, Zuckerberg's intended "new reality" is all that is wrong in the world and a tad scary for the generations to come. Probably not like for like, but I wonder if society had the same feelings of resistance when the Industrial/Henry Ford era totally changed the economic and social outlook of the times. I never used to think about living off grid, not who I am at all, but I genuinely am having those thoughts and what that actually means. Off grid in Indo and trading index funds like a few punters on here seem a lot more up my alley than living off grid in the traditional sense. Anything to minimise my contact with these corporations (and governments for that matter).

The Metaverse will be huge and most will interact as business will adopt. FB will only be one provider, NFT's (Non Fungible Tokens), DAO's (Decentralised Autonomous Organisation) and Digital tokens will be the norm in 10 years. In fact, FB is catching up and running behind schedule in the this space. Personally, decentralization should be embraced and moving away from centralised entities is my dream. Gov's, Banks are the biggest crims of the centralised world and they just can't be trusted anymore on a raft of reasons. The other beautiful thing if you don't want to engage you don't have to but being paid for content in my view will give rise to more meaningful engagement which in turn can solve outstanding problems.

Early daze in the technology but I see DAO's in education for instance and community networks. It's pretty clear what swellnet stands for and doesn't but being rewarded for content by smart contracts in my view is the way to go. Community driven lets the space evolve and they get to choose direction under some guidelines of course while being paid. Organic growth and if it doesn't suit your type of tribe you can go elsewhere or contribute across DAO's through Interoperability . Swellcoin could become valuable as its is a great site but 2D imagairy and Vids will become a thing of the past. Instead of typing we could have this conversation as holograms in the metaverse. Community members might like to sit in the channel to watch Jaws or Chopes for instance or be front seat for any contest and surfers will embrace NFT's to improve their paycheck.. In my view it will make the surfing industry bigger, luv it or hate it I do believe its coming.

Technology is a tool and can be miraculous. But public policy should support technology that further enables real-world existence, not escapism. There may at times be a fine line between the two, but it is a line worth drawing.
To the extent that the applications of the metaverse prove simply an escape from reality, society should oppose it. If it cannot be developed without spiraling the world into further detachment, then the metaverse should be altogether opposed.
Some might say that the free market must prevail and guide technology forward. But freedom can exist only when grounded in reality and in truth. Who will shape the reality of the metaverse? Will it be a handful of tech oligarchs, overseeing a “land” of censorship and rank commercialism at the expense of meaningful discourse and dialogue?
Given the lack of guardrails to protect children from the harmful effects of social media, how much worse would the metaverse be?
Given the seeming imminence of the metaverse, policymakers would do well to consider these issues now, rather than waiting for them to arrive.
Congress could start by repealing the research and development tax credits undergirding the development of the metaverse. Then Congress should revise existing anti-trust law that allows large technology companies to continue to enjoy wide moats and near monopolies in their respective industries, fueling these grand visions for what could be a dystopian future.
Until adequate safeguards and oversight exist, I will stick with reality over the metaverse. Policymakers should, too."

watching I kept thinking of the movie The Fifth Element, and how we are hurtling towards that clusterf**k of a society at warpspeed. Although the movie was fun watching, Zuckerberg's intended "new reality" is all that is wrong in the world and a tad scary for the generations to come. Probably not like for like, but I wonder if society had the same feelings of resistance when the Industrial/Henry Ford era totally changed the economic and social outlook of the times. I never used to think about living off grid, not who I am at all, but I genuinely am having those thoughts and what that actually means. Off grid in Indo and trading index funds like a few punters on here seem a lot more up my alley than living off grid in the traditional sense. Anything to minimise my contact with these corporations (and governments for that matter).

Early daze in the technology but I see DAO's in education for instance and community networks. It's pretty clear what swellnet stands for and doesn't but being rewarded for content by smart contracts in my view is the way to go. Community driven lets the space evolve and they get to choose direction under some guidelines of course while being paid. Organic growth and if it doesn't suit your type of tribe you can go elsewhere or contribute across DAO's through Interoperability . Swellcoin could become valuable as its is a great site but 2D imagairy and Vids will become a thing of the past. Instead of typing we could have this conversation as holograms in the metaverse. Community members might like to sit in the channel to watch Jaws or Chopes for instance or be front seat for any contest and surfers will embrace NFT's to improve their paycheck..
