Watch: Keeping up with Mitch Parko

Swellnet Dispatch

Today we received a wee delivery from Jye Gudenswager at Gen 4 Surfboards. 166Mb of Mitch Parkinson reaching terminal velocity at Kirra and Snapper during TC Uesi. Notable is the speed management and timing, how he can radically shave off speed then effortlessy accelerate again to match the wave's speed and remain as deep as it will allow.

It's also good timing receiving it today, with the soon-to-be named TC Ferdinand kickstarting another bout of cyclone swell for the Goldy and beyond. Check the WAMs for next week and fire up the engines. Metaphorically of course, we know how you Gold Coasters hate tow surfing.

I love his air-game, the way he tweaks it out with no grab just has me amazed.

Great drone shots really shows the freight train run to it. How's it when he bails as he runs over someone. They probably practice that up there.

It’s so common it almost doesn’t matter anymore. But in the swellnet tradition of calling out drop-ins, there’s a pretty good one at 1:06.

If there’s any karma in this world this is how Mitch should be looking after that drop in

Might have been the best wave of the other bloke’s life

Wally Was just about to post what you already have, its getting beyond a joke even at breaks that are uncrowded a pure reflection of society..
That bloke was going to get the barrel of his day fucktard dropping in was just doing it for the cameras another self absorbed cant should have been speared. the benefit of a 10ft legrope should never be underestimated.
Looking forward to the Coivid 19/zombie apocalypse to reset society .

Just playing devils avocado on this one.

I honestly don't think that guy would have made it. I do think giving someone benefit of the doubt out there should be the norm, but it's not.

Mitch took off much further down the line and had to really work to get through the section.

I am OHBILLY and I don't condone drop-ins.

The Parkinson clan are well known for their behaviour in the surf , it’s second nature for them to drop in . They have an extremely high opinion of themselves lol

He literally got chased in by a big, angry older local guy( who apparently just got out of jail) on the Friday of the swell. One of the funniest things I’ve seen. He absolutely shit himself

If i'd just gotten out of jail i'd be pretty angry to get dropped in on too.

I reckon the top three things you'd want after a jail stretch would be a home cooked meal, the warmth of a loving woman and surf to wash the dust off.

Getting dropped in on would be like someone stealing your woman i reckon.

1.06

"Today we received a wee delivery from Jye Gudenswager at Gen 4 Surfboards."

"Gen4 founder Jye Gudenswager has over a decade of shaping experience with some of the titans of the surfboard industry. JS Industries, Lost, Super Brand and Chilli are some of the global brands that Jye learned from and plied his craft with."

The titans of the industry.... WTF LOL... Shaping experience ... I thought they were all computer shaped in Asia, so he stole some computer files? finished, Glassed some boards but his is a prominent member of a board club and a sponsored rider himself, able to call on friends Mick mark and joel for advice

" 166Mb of Mitch Parkinson reaching terminal velocity at Kirra and Snapper during TC Uesi. "

Yeah at 1.06 a dude was reaching terminal velocity until he was dropped in by this collective.

"Notable is the speed management and timing, how he can radically shave off speed then effortlessy accelerate again to match the wave's speed and remain as deep as it will allow.""

I reckon your drawing a long bow there stu

He could have taken off deeper like the poor victim at 1.06 obviously the boards do not work unless you are a shoulder hopper and need to drop in on people with the right equipment

That drop-in was absolutely shithouse.

I can't work out if its better to boycott publishing clips with blatant drop ins or publish them and publicly call them out for the pricks they are.

Publish them here so everyone can tear them to strips. I can't believe the filmers and surfers want to publish a clip where they burn someone. It just shows how cocky the fuckwits are.
