'Jack McCoy Talk Story' East Coast Tour
Last year Jack McCoy organised a one-off show in Perth, a retrospective of all his work that included speaking to the many people he'd worked with over the years such as Wayne Lynch, Dave Rastovich, and Occy.
That show, however, wasn't quite a one-off. "You could call it a proof of concept," explained Jack when Swellnet spoke to him last week. "We put it together to see if it would work, if people were interested."
It's fair to say the idea worked because this week Jack has announced an extended tour of the same show.
On the 14th June the show goes on the road, starting with a double-header at Sydney's Museum of Contemporary Art - part of the VIVID Ideas Festival.
The first show will see Jack joined on stage by Kai Neville and Craig Anderson, the trio sharing some of Craig and Kai's clips and talk about what it takes to be a modern surf film maker as well as their feelings on the future of surf films.
The second show will see Jack joined on stage by Dave Rastovich and Wayne Lynch. The lads will be sharing some of the behind the scenes stories and clips from films they have worked together on, such as Blue Horizon and Storm Riders.
There are only 200 seats for each of these special VIVID Ideas shows at the MCA.
Following Sydney, Jack McCoy Talk Story then heads to Noosa, Gold Coast, Byron Bay, Coffs Harbour, Newcastle, and the Central Coast. Other guests joining Jack on the tour include Occy and Parko.

Pity that Eventbrite says "The tour launches at VIVID Sydney, followed by Wollongong, Central Coast, Newcastle, Coffs Harbour, Byron Bay, Gold Coast and Noosa. " - but it seems like the Wollongong event is not listed for sale, or was added in error.
Ah! Jack told me they had a place sorted but it's fallen through. They're currently looking for a new venue.
Stay tuned...
He could use my back shed
Fingers crossed for Wollongong!!
