Man, did you sit through that and log the time-sheet yourself? Big props.
Not my cuppa. My brother and the sk8 groms got me onto the Nine Club. And BS with TG. Is there a surfing equivalent? (no, not the Occ-Cast!)
Also check The Dollop! Not particularly sports-related, but fucken funny, historical and educational!
Plenty of good surf podcasts out there - Ain't that swell, Lipped, Surf Splendor, The Grit
The Grit looks...shit. Or is that just the Chas Smith factor?!
Surf Splendor...good God, no. Seppo myopia.
Lipped...too contest-oriented...boring.
Ain't that swell...potential, maybe.
I dunno, maybe I just find the subjects and subject matter too straight-laced and predictable and boorish and boring...or at least, the treatment of such.
And at my age, I like to just GO surfing these days. All the rest is waaaaay less interesting by far.
Though there are still moments, I guess. Always.
Just not an hour-plus of listening and watching mostly bog-standard, usual suspects, "surf-talk"?
Can't do surf podcasts.
Rather read.
Definitely road-trip fodder.
Short distance driving is music .
Long distance is audio books .
Chas Smith , sort your shit out and get Cocaine + Surfing available on Audible Australia. Listened to Working Class Boy and it’s sequel, Working class man , the Jimmy Barnes autobiographies, read by Barnesy last road trip . Never known much about him. Interesting mostly because it was basically him sitting there telling you his warts and all life story.
Surf podcasts .....tried them on for size . Poor fit for this Cinderella.
Shane Dorian is a low key legend.
save your time and money and give cocaine and surfing a wide berth, blowin. not funny, not informative. not well written either (well, that goes with the territory doesn't it). and not interesting unless you find chas smith's personal recollections of going from one place to another engaging
.
Yep no good on pod casts seems like watching bad radio.
I get the impression that Dorian has his head up his ass? Or is it just that septic twang? I don’t know . I suppose when you’ve had vast amounts of cash rolling into your bank account since the age of 15 or 16 without really knowing why or where it’s coming from it’s bound to have an effect on ones personality and perspective. I’m not into all that UFC shit either. For podcasts I recommend Grin Reapers , the audio is terrible but the guests are varied and anyone from Jack Robinson to Richie Vass to Nic Naitanui. Just saying.
