Watch: Droned by Gibbo
Huddled up on the shoreline, Stu Gibson spots a punter coming down the line, and with a quick twiddle of his thumbs, Gibbo locks on.
Old mate tucks in and races, jams off the top, and then repeats the dose this time beginning with a hand drag, then one more time out, and one more time back in, at which point it must feel like a cold water Lemoore.

Jeez looks a tricky wave to tackle on your backhand
Might just be me, but I think that's the first time I've seen that particular point actually named Stu. The Tassie crew probably won't be overjoyed...
Might get the liquid paper out...
The points only break a handful of times a year.
No real secret spots.
You can grow old waiting and waste a lot of time & effort for limited rewards.
But to snag a swell and a few of the waves keep you going till the next swell that could be a long time coming.
Far from a secret spot and doesn't really matter, as a non local would need to be super super lucky to catch them, need huge swells from the right direction and turn off just as quickly as they turn on, lived in Tassie and tried to catch them many times and always just missed it or they were just not big enough...did catch other points similar points in Tassie though.
Amazing set up though, hung out with lots of the South arm boys on the Goldie and i am jealous of the stories they told of growing up surfing these waves as grommets.
Something extra special about fickle right hand point breaks.
You know what annoys me most about Kelly's wave pool? Not the wave itself, but the constant call backs, comparing, hashtags #betterthanawavepool, headline using crap that it has brought upon us in the news media and social media.
Yes to this post.
How can you compare nature with a machine?
The backdrop for the Tassie point wave is a BIG difference to Kelly's machine.
Could Stu please point out why he is trying to meld the 2 together?
Because they're two head-high, ultra-long, hollow, down the line waves.
Don't think it's a particularly hard concept to grasp.
Nature is indeed a fickle thing.
As stated these points only break a few times a year, however, they have been
"on" three or four times in the last month or so.
Sssshhhhh, the lot of you.
