New 'Never Town' dates
Patagonia's Never Town is currently doing the rounds of community halls and rec clubs, anywhere with a big white wall and enough chairs to seat the local surfers and agitators. This was always part of Pata's plan: have the online release, raise awareness, but then also take the film on tour. Fill up a room full of like-minded folk, coupla beers, turn the volume way up, good talk before and after the curtain call.
The next few dates are important on the Never Town tour as they play to the crowds most concerned about the issues raised. Namely fish farming off King Island and oil drilling in the bight.
Tonight the show is playing in Hobart, and then this weekend it's out on the Eyre Peninsula. Dates and locations are as follows:
Hobart, TAS - Thur, 10 May 2018 - Cinema One Theatre
Port Lincoln, SA - Sat, 12 May 2018 - Beer Garden Brewery
Elliston, SA - Sun, 13 May 2018 - Elliston Community Centre

Great work Patagonia & swellnet & everybody else involved !
Patagonia Oz has to date worked as a subsidiary of Pata US, running similar campaigns as the US office, same angles, same style.
Never Town is a break from that with the Oz branch dictating the agenda - a distinctly local one - identifying the causes, reaching out to the activists involved, and then shaping it into a campaign and film that then exploits Patagonia's reach to broadcast far beyond local communities.
If you're looking for someone to pat on the back for Never Town then it's Sean Doherty for pulling the strings. He's the architect, writer, producer, etc. Though I'm sure he'd also include Andrew Buckley who apparently set new records of guarana and taurine ingestion while editing it to Sean's impossible schedule.
Stu are you coming over on assignment to watch NeverTowin at the # Fightforbight screening S.A. ?
Vegans Bbq and beers
I was planning to pack the wagon and head over to watch the film, Clam. Cover it for Swellnet then hang around for a while over there. Unfortunatly got bogged down in some major plumbing cum earthworks issues around the house.
One day you wake up happy and carefree, and by 3pm you owe a tradie $4K for emergency services.
That's my trip and board budget (plus a fair bit more) gone. So no, I can't make it this year.
