Swellnet Dispatch

Early this morning Pierre Agnes, longtime CEO of Quiksilver (now Boardriders), left the French port of Capbreton on his 12-metre boat Mascaret III.

He allegedly sent a message to the port explaining that he was going to postpone his return due to the persistent fog that had rolled in during the day. Meanwhile, the Mascaret III was found flooded and washed ashore at 9:30am north of La Graviere. Nobody was aboard.

Three helicopters and two boats were searching for Agnes while teams swept the coastline. Rough seas were reported in the area, though wind was light and visibility was clear. As of press time, the sun had set in France, but search efforts have continued.

Rescue services were unable to say if the Frenchman had been alone.

Agnes, who joined Quikilver nearly 30 years ago, was based at Quiksilver’s European headquarters in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, just south of Biarritz.

That is radical and hope to hell he is OK

Tough guy with and strong waterman so hope they just keep searching as he would be a survivor out there if still alive.

Tragic, he's been the European anchor of Quiksilver for decades. We hope & pray for a miracle.

Hmm fell out of the boat out to sea and it continued into the breaking waves perhaps? Who knows but it's winter and the sea temps and hypothermia.
Really sad I worked out at sea a lot and that's your biggest fear.
