Luke Wyllie // On the way to the emergency ward - video
A few months back West Oz pilot and rock jockey, Luke Wyllie, took a spill at low tide Gnaraloo and made a mess of himself. Wyllie suffered multiple fractures in his thoraic and cervical spine and sliced the crown of his head like a pineapple. He's still recuperating but his mate, filmmaker Tom Jennings, has compiled this li'l grab of thrills and spills to keep his spirits up.

That'll bring back the memories for him.
He's grabbed some hell pits and it's not hard to see how he got hurt in waves like those.
Now we know why men have a shorter life expectancy then women... Why have we always got to do stupid acts like this? To prove ourselves?? "Look at me mum, no scalp".. Maybe if the Sweedish water polo team gave this guy a spa bath and massage everyday he wouldn't of near killed himself. Are humans smarter than baboons?
Ape I reckon that being rubbed down by 7 blokes might push him to surf even crazier waves.
Didn't know there was a men's water polo team. Meant to say "Synchronized swim team".
Here's what I meant, wouldn't you rather hang out with these women then throw yourself spine first into a reef?:
Heavy!i s that the wipeout in the video that done the injury?
The guy goes extra hard, seen him make some amazing waves
I know this guys pain im still getting over 5 fractures in my back from 11 weeks ago
but fortunately I didnt scalp myself.
When you cant move , get up or walk for 2 weeks its a scary world and then very slowly
and really painfully start moving its really no fun and just reminds you just how fragile the
human body really is. I did mine with kook slams on the rocks not surfing gladiator type
waves like this guy anyway it does get better not fully but you being young may do.
Good luck keep fit you will be out there again.
To ape I dont think he is out to prove anything hes just doing what he likes just because
you are limited in ability I think its totally inappropriate to belittle other peoples achievements. In otherwords pull your head in.
Story time Evo?
I'm Curious to hear about your back.
To clarify, I've done plenty of chargin' like this - crave it - adrenalin junkie. Was simply taking a Freudian approach to the colloquial psychology of doing extreme things, such as: going to war, base jumping, impaling one's crotch on an iron gate - nothing personal - it's just kind of stupid - for the risk far outweighs the gain - don't you think?
Except in that split second when you go and are completely (or at least partially) oblivious to risk, unless that's just me......
Heavy waves, sick tune. Yeah the Pond.
