Dreamount - video

Swellnet Dispatch

The Superbank recently had a stellar run of swell. An extended mix of easterly trade swell with southerly top ups saw the bank reeling for weeks, and the best section was again down off Greenmount which was a relief for those who can't be arsed hassling off the rock. Still, it was a case of the better surfers getting the better waves, as evidenced by this clip with Asher, Mikey Wright, Kelly Slater, Mick, and Mitch Parkinson.

You can see why it's mostly a shitfight out there. You only need one of those badboys to make for a stellar sesh. Beautiful waves they be.

Surprising lack of drop-ins in that clip.

Old Greenmount or new Greenmount?.

Sorry give me this Greenmount, it looks soo so fun and it looks like its breaking in different spots or too fast through sections which is a good thing to give you a chance of getting one in with the crowd.

Good question ID...on face value it's a no brainer re: wave quality. But I remember as a grom I used to surf there with just a handful of people scattered along the point. It was the best place to practice using your rail for speed runs across long sections and cutties for when it fattened out...and as a kid it was possible to get lots of waves. I'd hate to think just how brutal it is out there now for groms.

I watched on a few weeks ago as teeny Superbank turned into a Lord of the flies style grommet free for all.

Kids everywhere burning any adult desperate - or stupid - enough to venture into the Supercreche lineup.

Don't pity them ....they'll eat you alive.

Yes no respect no respect at all anymore! There a pack of piranhas these days.. The grommet abuse I got when I grew up would probably put someone in jail these days...
Kids you have no idea how lucky your are to have missed Grommet bashing abuse days..
I still double check for pubes in my food to this day.

The day before the grommet takeover was 3-4 foot Superbank with a manageable crowd and some of the funnest waves I've ever caught.

Got one from the rock at Snapper to more than half way up the beach ( Coolangatta ? ) toward the Kirra groyne.

Longest wave of my life . Wasn't milked either - from start to finish there was speed and power to play with.

Handful of off the tops , few highlines couple of cutties and a bit of time under the lip.

I was truly meltdown rooted by the closeouts finish. Tried to prone to shore and rolled off the side I was that buggered.

Got a few of similar length but not quite as far , all good waves.

Checking out the brush turkeys and lorikeets in the trees, the beautiful ladies on the beach and the crew sliding across the endless walls of the lineup as I strolled back around to the top jump off . Same as everyone else gets to enjoy .

Iconic and incredible slice of Aussie surfing....Do it !

Hell time.

Cool nice when it all works out! I think my longest wave was at tea tree! I took of from the main rock out the back! skittled through this 20 meter section right against the rock wall. Then my board connected and of I went all the way down to where the rocks on the beach start going up to boiling pot stepped of on the beach cool! But no chicks to watch on the way back out!

Had Greenmount section to myself from 6am to 6.45am only weeks ago on a Saturday morning at 3ft. Peak crowds can get crazy but I get plenty of waves there unless it is a high profile swell.
