The first big southeast swell of the season romps through Fairy Bower in Sydney, lining up from Deadmans on the outside through to Winki and onwards to the Bower itself.
Trick question .....they're both as fucked as each other.

Check 0:10. It's rare but it's there...

That's a very large hole in the ocean.
After enduring the other 363 days each year of traffic, expense , closeouts , weak waves , pommy lifesavers and backpacker beginners you've earned it.
But really it's just the crowds that turn me off above and beyond all else.
In fact I'd call it the worst surf beach in Australia all things considered.
But that's not counting places such as Cottesloe as surf beaches. Some beaches that are considered surf breaks are treading a fine line with poetic licence to be honest.
Any other contenders out there ?
Apologies to those surfers from Adelaide that feel they are being overlooked for this award . I just aren't familiar enough with the surf there.

What?? Clearly you have never surfed Bondi. 365 days of close outs and no such thing as an epic day.
I have driven from Bondi to Manly just to get a better wave.

Sorry Joesydney
I discounted Bondi as an actual surf spot.
I think a fundamental requirement of an accepted surf spot is that you leave the water happier than when you enter at least half of all attempts at surfing.
Would Bondi qualify ?
Honestly ?
Extra points deducted for days where homicide is contemplated amongst fellow wave riders.
I went to Bondi once. It was a surf contest and the 2 finalists got sick from pollution amongst the windswept closeouts and a giant fake poo was paraded along the promenade.....and people I've met from Bondi since then refer to those as " the good old days ".
