Tamam Shud on tour

Where were you and what were you doing when Tamam Shud last played their tripped out live shows during the acid movement of the 70’s? Most people probably wouldn’t remember and those who do probably weren’t there! But everyone recalls Tamam Shud for the input and timeless tracks contributed to Australian surf film classics, Evolution, Hot Generation, and the seminal Morning of the Earth.

During 2016, Tamam Shud released a new LP ‘Eight Years of Moonlight’. With this release is an opportunity to celebrate their latest recording. “It starts with some surf-sounding stuff, but quickly goes into a tougher, almost punk sound,” enthuses Tim Gaze. “It’s all guitars, bass and drums.” As for Lindsay Bjerre, he simply states: “I haven’t changed – there’s still some pretty weird shit going on the songs I’m writing now!”

Andrew Kidman has been busy working on visual projections for Tamam Shud's live shows with some ‘lost’ footage from the Albe Falzon archives along with some classic period visuals from the era. A real throwback to how it all started for us.

Kidman will also be bringing his band The Windy Hills along to open all shows.

“We’re super lucky to have Andrew involved and helping out with the live shows and really looking forward to seeing these guys play”.

Anyone know if a bloke called Zack Zytnik is playing guitar in the modern lineup? Google says he's the original axe-man, but left in an early shakeup of the band.

The reason I ask is that I have been trying to locate the shaper of an old longboard I've recently re-shaped, on account of it being too dinged up to ride. It was shaped in Bangalow in 1992-ish and signed "Zack Zytnik".

The great Tim Gaze has been playing lead guitar with the Shud in most of its incarnations since 1972, and he and Lindsay Bjerre will be frontline again this tour. Can't wait to catch them in Queensland this weekend.

John is in addition to Tim I think. I missed them at Narrabeen but am hoping they do some more Sydney gigs.

Tamam Shud. Wasn't there an unidentified bloke found dead in SA who had a tiny slip of paper rolled up in his fob pocket with the words Tamam Shud printed on it?

I have Tamam Shud's early albums plus most of AKs. Didn't Tim Gaze sing? as part of the live performances of the Spirit of Alaska? if he did I thought he bloody well yelled more than sang and the Windy Hills were ok musically but the stand out for me was The Sand Pebbles, what a revelation, went out and got their full catalogue after hearing them that night. Now I would get very excited about seeing the Sand Pebbles.
