Amazing and those boils don't look far off wouldn't want to lose it and end up on them!

Nice waves. Seems that for a well documented introvert clay seems not to mind showing off a well edited WA to the world as an "empty paradise" and throwing a few claims up for his camera crew to boot. Lucky for us he is so shy or all those yanks may get the wrong idea , "empty tombies here we come dude!"

Is it just me, or does anyone else find recent prolificacy of videos by NW based pros, especially Ry Craike, alarming? It's great for them in the short term—they get paid a wage to go and surf and promote the waves they want to—but do they not realise how short-term their thinking is? They're not only short-sighted, but also incredibly selfish. In ten years time I promise you they'll be the first ones complaining about the crowds and telling everybody else to f@ck off.

You got it right there Pat. Clay has been putting out a lot of WA stuff like above, and always playing the hero surfing / discovering empty perfect wa,he wants to move here apparently I imagine a transplant aussie going to hawaiian secret spots cameras in tow would get away with it? RY, well he's been flogging the NW to th world for a while now , short sighted nest shitting

He broke up with his misses here which means a lot of locals here are unsure if he will be back.

Wouldnt be a swellnet article without some old salty sea dogs chiming in with their locals only bullshit.

NW WA is so fucken far from anything and everything, the average surf masses are not going to spend their hard earn and leave to sit in a car for 3 days to surf NW WA.

They are hitting boat trips in indo, going to bali and surrounds so they can slay some warm water barrels, then some bintangs then some ladyboys for 1/4 the price and 1/4 the effort.

And if they do, think about all those little local cafes, restaurants and small business that might get a few customers buying a pie and a Big M for once.
Your selfish attitudes are getting very tiresome.

Comparing to Hawaii is the dumbest thing I have ever heard, you cant drive around WA looking at ever single break on and off the beaten track in half a day.

NW WA is not some big secret, with Google maps, social media and so on (which has been around for 10 years now), if these joints were going to be packed, they would have long time ago.

Just enjoy another sick Marzo clip. Best surfer in the world and his "situation" just adds to who the guy is, im glad he isnt bullshitting around with the standard pro surfer shit.
That being said, he needs to do a little of this, after all he does eat food and needs to be able to buy it somehow

Well sounds like you've never been there anyhow doubting tomas? NW WA is generally packed all season, swell forecasts and clips like this one have made sure of that, not everybody is adverse to sitting in a car for 3 days like yourself, a making it sound like it's an empty paradise is just a load of bullshit to sell to people like you, I guess uluwatu is an empty paradise too? just you and your ladyboy slamming down a few bintangs in the single fin bar, that's a holiday in paradise

lol, such butthurt.

Don't need to sit in a car for 3 days to surf quality empty waves.
Dont do Indo either, bogan paradise. Wasn't pointing out myself, was talking the wannabe surfer masses worldwide. How about the brazzo infiltration in Indo and on the GC. 99% of these kooks are not making that trip to NW WA.
You might think its crowded, but it sure as shit aint full of the rip-curl tide watch wearing hypo crypto riding masses.
Mellow out and enjoy what you have, it will never be the GC or Indo no matter how many kook pros release footage for you to comment on where it is then complain.

I am going to have to chime in here in support of thomas11 here. All this "keep it secret" stuff aimed at a few videos on swellnet and some pros. There is this small issue of the fact that there are 7.4 BILLION people on the planet....and a growing percentage of them surf. Yes a vid like this might inspire a few to head out into the scrub and find this wave - but these videos don't make people start surfing or more importantly NOTHING will stop surfers searching anyway. We all know that every time we head to Indo. Quiet little waves you surfed 20 years ago now look like the Goldy. Nothing to do with pros and their videos - just a simple numbers game. More surfers, more searching, more travellers - less solitude. Even without these videos - a pack of hungry, frothing surfers are going to find the break sooner or later. Its just time. One day they will wonder "whats around that headland?" Better to appreciate it now, surf it now and ensure that wherever you visit you just be nice.

totally disagree Bungan.

the crowd, not just the numbers, but the type of crowd is very much affected by the amount of coverage a spot gets. it brings the roosters, the glory hunters, the packs of brazzos, the clueless euros etc etc

even very well known spots can be quite pleasant when they are flying under the radar.

Was it just lack of people that it was never surfed? Or the wave itself?
If that was down here there'd be swarms all over it
