Freedom Riders - video
The title of this ABC documentary borrows its title from the Freedom Riders of the American Civil Rights Movement and also Australia's Freedom Riders who forced the 1967 referendum. In both those movements black minorities rode in buses to preach their message.
Filmed by Sally Sara and Matt Davis, Freedom Riders shows how surfboards not buses are the vehicles of choice for South Africa's freedom riders. "Surfing is changing the complexion of South Africa's beaches," says Sally Sara who interviews individuals at the forefront of this new, non-confrontational racial movement.
