Brett Connellan fundraiser update
On Wednesday March 30, 2016, Kiama local, Brett Connellan was attacked by a shark and left with severe injuries to his left thigh and hand.
Brett spent over a month in St George Hospital and is facing an extremely complex and challenging program of rehabilitation. Already, the medical expenses that Brett has accumulated are substantial.
To assist Brett and his family to meet the financial cost of his rehabilitation, Jones Beach Boardriders and a small group of Brett's friends are organising a fundraising event on Saturday 25 June, 2016 at The Shellharbour Club.
Tickets to the fundraiser have sold out, however there are still two ways surfers can help raise money for Brett.
The first is by buying a 'Spirit Pass' before 5pm tonight. A Spirit Pass doesn't include entry on the night but does include a sticker pack and tickets to the mega raffle. Prizes in the raffle are as follows:
- A 5 night Bali getaway in a Canguu villa with a $1,500 flight voucher from Kiama Flight Centre
- 3 night Easts Beach getaway and relaxation package
- Your choice of Kiama Coast holiday parks weekend away
- A scenic flight to Jervis Bay for three people provided by Touchdown Helicopters
- Free night in the Superior Suit apartment at the Novotel Wollongong
- Jervis Bay Dolphin watch cruise
- Signed Bede Durbige surfboard
- A framed photograph by Bob Shaw entitled “The Boneyard”
- An all inclusive dinner for two at Parliament House
- A signed photograph book by Ray Collins entitled 'Found At Sea'.
The second way surfers can contribute is via the Brett Connellan Trust:
Acc: Brett Connellan Trust
BSB: 012709
Acc No: 298964661
To those that are curious, Brett has started rehab, however his injured leg is in a brace to keep the knee straight. It will be this way for at least a few more months until the injured nerves heal. The doctors don't know how long that will take and hence the cost of rehab is open ended.
