Fifty Shades of Blue | The Search - video
Technology and travel – the two Ts – are akin to 'Country and Western': you simply can’t have one without the other. Or can you? Wandering into the various shades of real world blue, Gabriel Medina, Matt Wilkinson, Mason Ho and Bruno Santos pull the plug in the search for a simpler stoke."

Of Grey mate, get it right.
It's all about dominatrix and sex...?????
Hey Stu--It seems Rip Curl is back up to their "dirty little tricks"--to Search and "Destroy"--For decades a few lucky ex-pats in Mexico have been trickling south from Puerto Escondido to a quiet fishing village in Oaxaca and staying understandably tight-lipped about the hidden perfection stacked up along a set of sand-bottom points. Then, in 2006, a Rip Curl Search event scored what has been called the best contest-surf ever seen, and "overnight the secret was out". Surfers "flooded" the town, Salina Cruz, and the "secret spot" was "Destroyed"---Try surfing there today--if you can get a wave to yourself. I believe the town is now basically a surf Ghetto of sorts.-- Dudes--the last thing it seems the surf world needs now --is big companies exploiting even more spots for their own personal gain...Surfers everywhere should "boycott" Rip Curl products and go tell Rip Curl--go search somewhere else and leave us alone--you have already done enough damage.
Of all the things Rip Curl have done over the years what they did to that little town in Mexico was particularly disgusting, they gave that town nothing.
Total apathy--unblievable! Rip Curl heads back out to search up whatever little surf spots (secrets) might be left out there--(for their stinking Advertising campaign)-and no one gives a cr-p. Unbelievable!
Fiogging a dead horse here Steve, I think the truth is that most of the readers of this and many other forums are quietly chomping at the bit waiting for the next little gem to be exposed. Any chance of persuading Rip Curl to stop this crap would have as much chance of a campaign to have their sponsored surfers show some decency in the line up at snapper, no exposure in that your dreaming :-)
Could be--I think that most modern day surfers are so wimpy and pansied out--they might faint if they had to sleep in a tent to get some good surf..Thought Stu might of had the Sac to say something though....
Or maybe peoples silence regarding this vid is not a sign of apathy but a group decision to not give it any air?
Reminds me of that old saying--"All it takes for evil to prevail--is for good men to do nothing"
.......
I would have happily shared my freezing lineup with you this morning FR, good waves too and only 3 of us out. But who the hell would want to come here?
You make part of your living from surfing if i'm not mistaken? If Ripcurl asked you along on one of these searches, all expenses paid with a nice little bonus at the end, would you go?
I don't think this is the FR you're thinking of Zen.
Cheers Benski and apologies Mr. Shearer.
But the question still stands to freerider.
I've thought this question over more than once--and my answer would be a resounding "no". I'd rather sleep in the dirt and surf an average beach break with a few friends--than go on a free surf trip with Rip Curl.....
Not apathy freerider. This issue has been done to death on this site. Search for the first posting in this new phase of the search, only a few months ago, most of the usual suspects here got stuck in. Think the general conclusion was to ignore the vids because, among other things, continuing the conversation keeps the thing on the front page.
But there's general disdain for rip curl and its exposure efforts.
PS. You'll also find most of the people here aren't averse to a tent.
Your right Bro--most people who post here--seem pretty down to earth.....and I'll check out your tip on their first post.
