Australia's biggest surfboard auction

Swellnet Dispatch

13.pngExactly one year ago WA surfboard collector Richard Hadley auctioned off his surfboard collection in Perth. In one night over 100 unique and highly collectable boards went under the gavel. Before they did however, Swellnet interviewed Richard about his collection, what boards were among them and why he was selling them.

One thing he let drop was that those items going to auction weren't all the boards he owned. And now twelve months later the leftovers - if you dare call an assortment of Brewer's and the like leftovers - are also being hocked off.

The auction is being held on Tuesday 20th October at McKenzie Gallery in Perth. The boards are now online to peruse or salivate over. Last year's auction was almost exclusively pre-1980 shapes, while this one has many boards shaped after that year. Check the link below to see all 117 boards being sold.

He who dies with the most toys wins.

Such a big auction. I don't why people wast their money on such things.

Crazy not only the amount of boards he had but also the quality amazing but just such a shame it was and is being split up and not going to a museum or something.

Dragan 'get air model' is interesting , Could it be worth the high speed tow in riders looking further into this ?

Just an amazing collection. I agree with Indo, such a shame to break it up. Even more so the first lot from last year.

I for one would be happy to pay good money to walk through a museum housing this great cross section of surfing history.
