Connor Coffin laying rail - video
Connor Coffin bucks the trend of young punters retrofitting a rail game to their air repertoire. Coffin is a power surfing purebred with a deep inclination toward committed rail turns and rear foot weighting. Knows when to back off the pressure and release the tail, but his disposition shows in each bottom turn/top turn combo.

Robin Trower, an absolute Strat master and heavy, funk legend, and still performing. Wish I could play like that! Great clip for me.
Awesome surfing and great vid I only wish I could surf a 1/5 (1/4 is asking too much) as good. Love seeing that new/old school heavy rail, full commitment surfing, as a contrast to the short, sharp pocket approach pioneered by Kelly and others. Music is 70's too with RT in full flight on the wha pedal. Getting all warm and nostalgic here.
hell yeah that was the best surf clip I've seen in ages. wicked song. and only 3 airs in the whole thing.
Great stuff!
And the Curren legacy lives on.
That was very good, Awesome music and blasting surfing. That barrel at Backdoor(?) that he didn't quite sneak out of was sick.
Fuck that was good.
awesome. looked like Occy bottom turning at Sumba on those solid backhand walls. Those laybacks he is doing at the start are crazy
Watched it again this morning, fuck the music bought back memories of the long drives west ( 70's - 80's )and hours in the car, nicely toasted listening to Trower, Floyd, Supertramp, Buckley, Pavlov's Dog, Doors, Zepplin etc, etc amping to get some good waves. Connor 's surfing is solid rail to rail, power style.....it's a great clip.
Geez Ash you stole my thunder but left out a bit of Jimmy (H), John Mayall, some Stones Chain, Little Feat, Muddy Waters....I want bore the listeners any more with my nostalgia.
my T shirt is all wet with tears- a '70s track doing justice to this hardcore young ripper showing signs of being a '70s throwback
This is good hard surfing and I love it
but no one gets vertical anymore.
Bring back Browne at the pop.
I don't normally comment on this site or any site for that matter cause I don't give a fuck as I just want to surf
BUT
On his 8,'6"" red machine, I have seen nothing in my lifetime that compares to it , even Curren and Slater, well done brown dog you a fucking legend.
I actually used to sit on the hely pad as a grom for hours and watch him just dominate the lineup.
The bottom turn was insane (no one compares) and the speed generated would just project him vertical into the lip which would allow him to hit the next section after section after section into the valley.
I always remember MR saying the more vertical you hit the lip the more you will ride out of it.
MR was actually my hero when I was a kid to digress and the King of bells (creedo, I actually didn't know how good he was at that stage but Lynch confined that) used to push me into the Bells shore break to get smashed at 6 years old, hard fuck but he has taught me how to read the line-up and the fuckheads that think they own it. Sweens jr and Browne are the only ones that demands respect in that fucking place.
