Dorian wins the twin fin division of the Four Seasons Champions Trophy - video
Wouldn't be too many punters who'd pick Shane Dorian - multiple XXL winner, Jaws specialist, and wild boar shooter to boot - over Dave Rastovich in a twin fin shootout.
“I never ever ride twin fins,” admitted Dorian after surprisingly topping Rasta in the final of the twinny division. “I didn’t really know how to approach it or how I should ride it, but it felt good. The waves were fun and really good for twin fins - fast and down the line”
Rasta, for his part, was graceful in defeat. “Shane and I have surfed heaps over the years and to see him on a twin fin was rad,” Rastovich said. “Seeing him flairing in waves like that, I was pumped, really good vibes all day. The waves were fun, nice, clean and glassy. Look where we are, we’re in paradise!”

The other surfers looked a bit twitchy/slidy on there twinnies ...Dorian had full control of his ..Fucking ripping.
Cool concept in a beautiful location.
Sofia, mixing it up with the boys. Nice.
I think I need to start a crowd funding thingo so people can send me here for a few weeks reconnaissance. I will do a really good report for swellnet!
O'shane Dorian Rules
Are they riding twin fins or just their regular board minus the rear fin/fins?
Looks like the Maldives is the elephants graveyard of pro surfing, lucky bastards
I noticed that too. Well Dorians anyway. Looked like a stock standard thruster to me minus the back fin.
Whatever gets you over the line fellas......
More power to him I reckon.
For all the homages to retro equipment that have been postulated throughout the surf world the last few years , I reckon this contest has just highlighted the deficiencies in the boards from previous eras.
Ride what you want to , but when the waves are anything beyond pure shit , don't be fooled into thinking your better off on anything but modern equipment .
