Yorkes Surfarama - a celebration of the surfing history and culture of the Yorke Peninsula
The Daly Head Surfing Reserve Committee is holding another celebration of the surfing history and culture of Yorke Peninsula this January 18th 2014.
It’s a SURFARAMA!
This year we will have a beach day showcasing the evolution of surfing and surf craft on the Yorke Peninsula. The usual smorgasbord of bands and entertainment will be performing on the night and a fashion extravaganza of surf styles through the ages will be happening.
Those with an interest in and passion for the feel of Yorke’s surfing and coast culture over the years are invited to share the vibe of our relationship with the “bottom end”.
Please feel free to find a groovy outfit for the occasion.
We’ve got t-shirts, books, DVD’s, posters, prints, art up for sale. Cash only (no eftpos). All funds raised go directly to coastal rehabilitation projects. A donation upon entry is requested and kids are free. Food and camping available. BYO. We don’t want it be too excessive. It’s an all ages family show.
If you are interested in attending please email [email protected] and we will get on to it and get back to you with more information. Your support in this will greatly assist us in putting on the best possible experience for you and your fellows. Thanks.

After a stinking hot week in S.A the Yorkes Surfarama will be going down this Saturday in much more tolerable conditions, 28 degrees and a decent swell with offshore S/SE winds.
Our beach day looks to be held at Daly Head main break on Saturday morning around 11am, followed by the party at the Timperons Shearing Shed from about 5pm till late.
If you feel like having a look or a surf with us at Daly's on Saturday morning, bring down your favourite classic board and be a part of it!
Should be a memorable weekend!
How you coping with the heat? What an extraordinary run of hot weather.
Yeah it's been a shocker! Too hot to surf(almost).
I got hold of a small window mounted air conditioner and am sleeping in front of it on the kitchen table!
We have had a decent run of waves so far this month so can't complain too much;)
Fergus mcdingo you gonna show ?
lets plan a sneaky blow up of that fucking suck rock.
Looking like a great weekend of festivites and waves! Can't make it this year, but if it's half as good as last it will be well worth a trip over!

So how was the show? Get a few waves? Looked like the swell was pushing in late arvo Saturday....
Yeah it was a great night maddog. The fashion parade was hilarious!
Weasel showed his new surf movie The Surf Chasers which documented 50 years of surfing in South Oz and featured some of the best local competion and free surfs to go down at Yorkes like the '93 Pro Junior at Pondy amongst others.
The band Dr Piffle and the Burlap Band were awsome and had the place jumping.
And our paddle out at Dalys earlier in the day was fun but the swell hadn't quite hit so we just surfed some smaller left and rights on the inside. However by 5pm it was solid 6ft and the next day was really good too, especially in the arvo.
All in all a great weekend and successful show!
Sorry I missed it Yorkes I had good intentions.......
No worries blindy it would of been a tough week to drive from the east. Just so damn hot! And it's pretty expensive to fly, hire cars, rent accommodation etc. Unless someone is doing a travelling/ camping trip across Australia its rare to see many interstaters'. That's why it's so uncrowded down here I guess?
Yeah easy to quickly bypass the YP on travels further afield.
Remember having one session with you YS after surfing over a week further west and then heading home to stop by SH. Was howling northerly and real inco, and I don't think you could believe I had detoured after having such good waves further afield. Haha!
I guess after driving 6 hours, I still had that inkling to get wet!
Some of those small inco days can be fun but there's often no one around to surf with. I remember that day Craig, I think I was by myself and it was good to have someone to surf with.
Even on Sunday there were only two guys out at Daly's who had just driven over from Adelaide and it was 4 to 6ft! The fact that I was the only sober person at the party the night before might have had something to do with it;)
Haha, classic YS, good work!
It was a ripper night..good weather and a good crew..You weren't the only sober one YS!! I scored the dawnie at ..... with a mate and no-one else..it was sik!! how crazy is papa Dave!!
