Do you own a paddleboard, ocean ski, SUP or surfboard? Feel like something to train for that doesn't involve running? Want the challenge and excitement of an ocean paddle but not quite up to the Molokai?

Well, start getting ready, because this year your prayers will be answered by the first ever Bondi Big Paddle and Dash for Cash, to be held at Bondi Beach on December 12th.

The Bondi Big Paddle (BBP) 2010, is an exciting new event that will test the speed and endurance of board and ski paddlers as they race from Bondi Beach to Wedding Cake Island (off the back of Coogee Beach) in a 9-12km open ocean race. There will also be a Dash for Cash catered to surfboards, and a stand-up paddle division to be held within the headlands of Bondi Beach.

The idea behind the BBP is to create an opportunity to bring together the different ocean paddle crafts that frequent our shores and celebrate the function and beauty of the crafts as well as the ability of the paddlers.

There will be three races throughout the day:

1. BBP - 9-12 km ocean paddle. The race will start at Bondi and travel to Coogee, around Wedding Cake Island, then return to finish back at Bondi. This race will be open to ocean ski, paddle board and SUP. 2. SUP Race - 2 km paddle solely for SUP, to be held within the bay at Bondi. 3. Dash for Cash - 250 metre paddle solely for surfboards up to 6 feet 6 inches, to be held within the bay at Bondi with a sprint finish up the beach.

Stay tuned for more details on Swellnet, as we will be confirming prizes (money and product), entry fees and registration, as well as opening our event website in the coming weeks! In the meantime, join our Facebook Group - The Bondi Big Paddle 2010.
