Owing to a bountiful forecast, Pipe surfers kept this year's Thanksgiving ceremonies to a minimum. The day after dawned to 12'+ swell out of the north-west and getting bigger.

Through the morning the pack split between those sitting on First and dodging the washthroughs, and the rest trying to make sense of the outside reefs.

Though early in the season it already feels like Jamie O'Brien and Mike Stewart's tag team roll in will go down as one of the waves, if not the wave, of the winter.

Taking off outside of OTW, the duo - with a combined age of 102 - did the admin work to reach First Reef with speed and on a good line.

Rest of the vid has highlights from the morning and early arvo, before the rising swell shut it down and sent punters to reefs further afar. As that swell died down the Haliewa QS kicked off, with Day 3 running today. Meanwhile, looking at the forecast, and a week of good mid-range waves is in order before the pattern is broken by an XL NW swell this weekend.
