Watch: M'Feb Wins On Three Fins
Yesterday, Jadson Andre rode a single fin for the very first time and won the singley division of the Four Seasons Maldives comp - beating Taj Burrow and Jeremy Flores along the way. Check his fin skip at 3:30 if you missed it.
The Four Seasons comp features a mix of ex-CT surfers and hot locals surfing various craft: singles, twinnies, and Thrusters, to find an overall wnner.
Today there was a siginificant jump in swell size so organisers skipped the twinnies - which is what would've happened if they were sent out - and ran the Thrusters instead.
In another suprise result, Michael February - who had a short-lived CT career riding orthodox boards, only to bloom when he lost his spot and ditched a few fins - beat his dead ahead Thruster-riding rivals.
“I don’t surf a Thruster often," said February, "but there’s nothing wrong with riding a Thruster in pumping waves, and this event challenges people in different ways."
After two rounds, M'Feb and Taj are tied on 1,800 points, with Jadson on 1,700 and Carissa Moore on 1,500. Tomorrow they surf twinnies to find the overall winner.

I’ve never really understood what this comp is about - it’s the most awesome junket for ex-pro surfers, but what is the point of it?
How many people go and stay at the Four Seasons in the Maldives on the back of this marketing? Or is it just general Maldives exposure backed by the government?

Agree Lanky Dean. I'm not immune to it all and I checked out their prices a few years back, and after watching Jadson Andre carving it up I've been considering the benefits of owning a double flyer swallow tail single fin!
Straight up marketing, Chico. Targeted at people with more money than you and I.
As for the surfers, the pros I could care less about, they travel non-stop anyway, but a few years back Julio Adler got the PR gig, and Chris Binns has had it the last few. I also noticed, ol' Jonny Frank was credited in the still shots.
It's a fun concept, often held in good waves, and the old warhorses get a junket in the tropical sun.

How good is MFeb just beautiful to watch. I think it costs a bomb to stay there.
