Watch: Tim Bonython // Nazare XXXL
"Big waves aren't measured in feet, but in increments of fear."
So said Buzzy Trent, and to that we can add big waves are also measured in how many X's precede the L.
We're up to three now so if XXL describes anything up to the current world record of 86 feet (Sebastian Steudtner, 2020), then another X means what..?
It's a question being asked since February 26th when both Chumbo and Sebastian Steudtner pressed the uppermost limit of wave size, with people querying the old record and wondering if a new one has been set.
While we ponder that - and while the good folk at Guiness measure it, results back in twelve months! - here's Tim's footage from the big day, plus the warm up day preceding it.

Great stuff Tim.
Yep, I love Tims work and thanks for bringing it to us. It's awesome on a large screen.
Even the music can be pretty good sometimes.
is it just me, or would Chumbo's towie Alemao De Maresias (38mins) play a great estranged father to Nate Florence in a cinematic big wave drama?
Big mess
Big mess
Only made it through 3 hungry jacks adds but some of the worst tow surfing I have ever seen... Well done European kooks
The quest for fame at Nazarre hold no bounds it would seem
