Watch: Hale'iwa
On a coast that favours the late drop and heavy barrel, Haleiwa stands out as the North Shore's most high performance wave. This along with its central location means it's highly popular with the local surf community. Groms learn to surf on the inside reforms, while older crew share the before and after work sessions out on the ledge.
Positioned inside a bay means Haleiwa is sensitive to swell direction, and that along with the unceasing current see to it that those who put in the time - read: locals - get the best waves.
In this vid, hosted on John John's YouTube channel, the narrative reins are handed to Joel Centeio as a compilation of great rides plays across the screen.

very nice. I think I could watch a short little flick like that on every famous surf break in the world. I like the "through the eyes of a local" viewpoint
Carissa Moore ripping!
Joy.
I think it could work with Haleiwa to open the CT tour and finish at Pipe.
yes!
Perfect!
and sunset as CS the last stop before the first CT at Haleiwa
Agreed
Loved it.
Makes you realise why JJ surfs Margies Rights so well, although Haleiwa a better wave, there are similarities.
Can you imagine how differently your surfing life would unfold if you grew up surfing a wave like that? My parents have a lot to answer for.
I know right!
Even just growing up on the North Shore in general. By rights you should be capable at any wave in the world. Eg, like the Florence’s

so good watching waves with power and speed, rather than the wiggling in sub-par waves the woz seems to be cursed with
Was that Munga on the podium next to Sunny? I would imagine he would rip out there
He sure did.....
Excellent vid.
Power surfing in powerful waves.
Enjoyed the narration as well.
