Watch: First Jaws Swell Of The Season
This video isn't even four minutes long but there's a lot to take in.
For one, there's Kai Lenny - with a new colourway on his board - once again treating Jaws like he's a cat and it's a ball of string, even finishing the session with a switchfoot ride.
Then there's the lasses going big: Izzi Gomez and Skylar Lickle.
Speaking of, the surname Lickle may ring a bell for older surfers as she's the daughter of Brett Lickle - strapped surfing pioneer and one-time tow partner to Laird Hamilton. While Austin Kalama, son of Dave Kalama, makes a show.
Freeze the screen on 2:52 and you'll see Kalama has something unusual on his hands. Paddles? It appears so, though I can't find much info online. Anyone know..?
Comments
It appears he has strapped a couple of saucer lids to his hands, raided his mum's pantry, oldest trick in the book
Pains me to say, but damn KL is good at Jaws.
Anybody else mute that music? Yikes.
That music actually gave me a laugh I.B.
It's like they searched "generic repetitive dramatic rock" from a free site.
Its early chilli's with hillel slovak, you blokes must listen to mariah carey
Doesn't make it bearable. And no.
Branch out big fella there’s a whole world of good music out there.
Chili peppers never were much chop.
Thems fightin words bruz : )
What I meant, and how I should have put it, was: It's all yours - enjoy :-)
And here's to Mariah Carey:
No you’re right, they had a couple of good songs especially Higher Ground and Love Rollercoaster ;)
Interesting- shows the physical challenge for the ladies. Need to ride big boards to paddle in but then you need enough leg (and overall) strength and weight to set a line and turn the board.
(Said from the safety of my couch)
3:03 wave, was smoothly ridden by Trevor Carlson. But KL untouchable.
haha i read the comments before watching it - great drums, base, guitar - you binarys who have never played an instrument should tell your he/she's to uncup you and your handbags and get you some music lessons
Kai switch for trucks sake - we will be taking about him with revered tones in years to come like we do Lopez now. Such an incredible waterman. Love watching him tow and sup and foil and windsurf……
