Watch: Pipeline // December 2nd
As a new nor'west swell filtered through on the second to last day of competition at Haleiwa, surfers with little regard for the coloured singlets* flocked to Pipe.
Aside from a slow week or two immediately previous, Pipe has had a very good early season with enough westerly swells to scour the reef of sand.
In this video, Tucker Wooding has collated drone, water, and land angles, sometimes capturing single waves from each angle. It's comprehensive viewing.
Special mention to Joey Johnston's takeoff at 1:30 - also replayed later in the video.
*Barron Mamiya and Josh Moniz appear in the video and competed the same day at Haleiwa. Both got knocked out late in the day.

Awesome. Cant get over JOB taking on that wave on a softie minimal. Good to see a mix of angles.
Same! A+ level douchebag, but great on a soft top!
Sweet vid of an epic wave on an epic day.
Hoped I might spot Tyler out having a dig.
Kalani Chapman on the self Shaped Blue Beast.
JOBs speed control on drops is rather impressive.
Geez, crowd was nuts. Great waves!
So sick, cant stand Kemper but his wave at the start was mental. So many amazing tubes and heavy beatings
Craig and team, can we please get a forey for the Pipe comp?
Craig's good...but haven't they moved Pipe to end of Jan...might be pushing his skills!
I trust him. He’s got Huey on speed dial.
I was talking about the Vans Pipe comp. Waiting period 8-20 Dec.
Navigating that crowd more sketchy than the barrel, absolutely insane level of surfing
video above blocked
here is a birds eye view of these waves
Thanks for sharing! Hope everyone enjoys the video.
No problems, Tucker. Look forward to your vids more than most.
However, appears Sony Music Entertainment are less impressed. They've got you blocked.
Yeah I’m working on getting it unblocked. Took a while but finally got in touch with someone so fingers crossed!
Does the drone getting Swamped at the 3min Mark ?
Looks like it.
It's there one second, gone the next.
Awesome!
Great vid, crazy waves, crazy skill level. Music a bit too 80's hair metal for mine
Makes the shots of Kirra look a little lame.
I dislike it when people are "nameist"....you know - subtly mocking those poor kids called Atreyu because their parents loved The Neverending Story. It's not like you have a say in the bloody thing....but you'd have to be a little annoyed at your folks if they actually named you "Legend". No pressure or anything...
Unless I am missing some Scandanavian accent on a certain syllable and its actually pronounced Larry?
No, it's Legend, pronounced as you say it.
Same with Diesel Storm Butts.
Mindboggling

Odd. Never seen that before (SME is Sony Music).
Insane clip!
Re crowds, who gets to go? Didn't see much contest between surfers at time of commitment . Huge lineup, obviously containing many lookers , subtle differences in location of each peak, some able to be split, however what is the protocol for those "qualified" , on a hair trigger and in (arguably) the right place /right time? Reckon its known by most given what I saw.

Yea - I was wondering the same thing - how some of the crew seem to just nab multiple waves (Mason Ho, JOB) - though you do hear stories of guys sitting there for several hours waiting. I couldnt think of anything LESS fun - the vibe must be intense. Growing up surfing some high intensity hassle waves - I reckon there must be a mix of local status and that sheer bulldozing intent some people get when a set comes and they just almost vibe people out of the way. As youngsters at our local we used to mimic Leroy from Big Wednesday and just yell "MY WAVE!!!!!" with absolute dominance. Always gets a laugh - and strangely enough often gets you waves. Might paddle out at Pipe and try that one...
No don't.
