Watch: Ramon Navarro // The Ride Of A Lifetime
Big waves are a ridiculous proposition when you break it all down. Hundreds of hours spent training and preparing, thousands of dollars spent on travel, and for what? A few seconds of bliss, if the surfers are lucky.
As viewers we're well aware of the end results, we see the spoils shared on all manner of media, but often it's all that unseen effort that makes for the grander story.
This is what Tim Bonython is chasing in his latest film, 'The Big Wave Project II', and here's a short snippet: Kohl's selfless gift to a mate, and one of the largest Cloudbreak waves ever ridden.
Comments
If you recall, there was commentary about the outpouring of emotion afterwards, KS hugging and congratulating Ramon on the wave.
But for mine, this photo is more poignant and gets to the heart of the tow team relationship. A pat on the head and eye contact.
The greatest wave ever ridden ,i still get butterflies just watching the replay and the Mark Healy swim thru on that monster wave ,holy shit what could go wrong........awesome
That one Healy scratched over is the craziest wave I've ever seen.
His interview where he talks about that makes my balls go up inside my stomach….. I have copped 10-12ft on the head and I was dying….. I can’t imagine being out there and thinking about whipping your leggie off as your punch through a lip
Oh my Jordy..
insane
Incredible that waves like that exist. And that someone managed to be in position to ride it.
Not having a bitch but is this code red day a few years ago. As big or bigger waves were rode that day.
Holy shit that’s heavy
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't he sit for 4 hrs waiting for that wave and only had 2 for the whole session ?
more like a lifetime
I think you're right, juan k
2hrs for that wave.
Next level commitment on a wave of massive consequence. Don't look back!
could've been deeper
love it!!!! (insert crying laughing emoji....)
Can’t wait to see the film next week, get behind it!
