This year's Quik Pro France scored a bit of swell, though nothing exceptional. Just a few days after the comp ended, however, the best swell of the season arrived with two days of great waves and offshore wind.
So good....
I love old mates effort at 1:41. That is my surfing kryptonite. Perfect positioning, perfect wave, looking down the line, pre-planning the move, visualising the view and already thinking about what is about to happen - then BAM....suddenly you're on your arse and underwater. I usually come up laughing at my own hubris!

What makes it even worse was the water photographer at the other end of that barrel.
Imagine the shot he could've got?

I missed that! He blew the barrel AND the glory and bragging rights. He was probably just exhausted from the 275th barrel of the day.....

Great waves but that stretch of coastline is fuckle as fick.
Massive tides, ever changing sand and you really have to hang there for a while at the right time of year to get anything like those conditions.
You won't be surfing with just a handful on a good bank either.

I must have been lucky then...spent time at Messange - just north of it - and it was smoking the whole time and crowds were thinned out along the banks.

Wollongong coastal beachies never handle that big of a swell, i wonder why? ulladulla beachies do...something i cant explain.
Good flick would kill for waves like that right now.
