Watch: Dane Reynolds // Chapter 11 - 011
And here we have Dane presented as the opposite Torren.
Where Mr Martyn gallivants down the north-west coast of Africa, far from his Byron home, soaking in the saturated colours of Morocco - the pellucid blue water, the clear dry air, and the bright textiles - not to mention the neverending rights, Mr Reynolds keeps a tight travel restriction, surfing familiar waves close to home, short beachies in murky green water below a colour-draining marine layer of fog.
And where Torren appears so effortless through turns, Dane approaches each and every move like an IED with a sensitive switch - blowing hell sky high.
Unfortunately there's no stream-of-conciousness screed with this vid - it's just the surfing and nuthin' else.
Comments
As usual Dane rips. Would prefer watching just him.
Love watching DR, just so much speed. Would love to see him in waves like Torrens'.
Think Dans' quiver may go a little better in those beautiful big rights. Or just show another style.
Maybe jam them in a van together for another trip :)
Probably always was happening, but amazing just how much superb surfing is occurring nowhere near a contest jersey.
Obviously waves are a factor as are final edits but seriously, a few minutes of this quality verse a few minutes of Rottnest, Newcastle, Shidashita accompanied by the incessant drone of commentary - which is more appealing?
Danes destroys waves.. love his vids.. watched him years ago a snapper in a league of his own ..
It was good to see some of the other rippers around that area but not enough of Dane imo. Still a great watch.A lot of those other surfers probably aren't even sponsored but rip.Good to see, back in my day only sponsored surfers got footage as that's how the photogs got paid,Even if they didnt surf as well as others.
I still don't understand how he generates so much speed and applies so much power and control through his turns.
The lovechild of Dane and Torren would be about as good as surfing gets.
Mikey February ?
not even close!
AI would be the closest to that and I reckon he was as good as surfing ever got.
Yeah that Dads bod and a diet of IPA and Guinness has not diminished his surfing. Throws the kitchen sink at everything and I am trying to think of anybody on the CT who is as explosive and good to watch. Obviously Italo is aero supremo but his turns are nowhere near this calibre and he tends to telegraph everything and Gabes aren't as big either, as for the Aussies no one comes to mind either although I thought some of Morgan's turns were great. He is what they used to call Gazza Ablett - mercurial.
How good's the vibe. And the surfing! The pics on the site (beneath the clip) of the showing are great, just looks like a top crew, family atmosphere, alot of stoke. Ace!
