My word, but I wonder whether that can be called a top turn. That was something beyond top turn. Dunno what you'd call it though....

The turn he does on the wave directly after it is even better.
There's an air he does at 2:35 and when he lands a kid with long, blonde bleached hair - much like young John John used to have - is watching him from very close quarters.
In my sentimental moments I see that as the next John John seeing and aspiring what he wants to become.
Circle of life and all that.

Maybe that's the name for it: The Turn. I don't think anybody else does it quite like him, and for my money it just might be the most spectacularly poetic power turn in surfing.
That's a great way to look at it, Stu, and hats off to any grommet who has a crack at surfing like that. The old-schooler in me hopes the groms focus on his power/rail surfing and tube-riding panache which are simply par excellence.

That was a killer 3 minutes of surfing with power and poise.
How do you do turns like that in 8-10 foot surf!?!?!
I'm in awe.

Exactly? If I was surfing that size my board would be huge and I would be doing one turn.... a bottom turn!
