That turbulence shot was scary, to add what's that guy doing on the inside at 3.36, why would you be in there to pick off the inside ones, no way dude........

Was thinking the same thing
stunetMonday, 19 Apr 2021 at 1:33pm
He was sitting deep, maybe to also look for the chip shot entry that Twig was looking for, ot perhaps looking for lefts?
He also appears in the drone footage at 1:36, visible on the wave afterwards.

Enjoyed that.
How was some of the waves behind

He tried to stand it up on the landing...Nutjob....but has my respect (if not understanding)

Just wondering why main pack was so far off where he caught the wave? Was he super deep or are they all shoulder hoppers or what?
udoSunday, 18 Apr 2021 at 8:14pm
Billy have a watch of Pete Mels Bomb - Its a spot further out and deeper in where they wait and they can get a little chip in before the Bowl-unfortunately Twig didnt make his..
JamyardySunday, 18 Apr 2021 at 9:57pm
Spot on Udo, looks like Twig took off on the bowl. If he had of been a bit deeper, he may have made the drop, but coming out of the barrel would have been more challenging.
cheers Udo. Unbelievable timing and read. That's why tow in just doesn't rate for me.

Under for about 20 seconds on the first one and 13 on the second wave.
So he didn’t pull his vest?
Fuck so it was probably just his leggie still attached to his board keeping him close to the surface. If that snapped who knows what would of happened..

I was thinking it’s a good add for the leggie as it didn’t break. Certainly not an eBay special.

Ski on the right of screen @ 7: 50 has a pickup onboard as well.
That is.. the most interesting wipeout clip I have ever seen... hands down!

wonder what the death count would be without skis and vests?
JamyardyMonday, 19 Apr 2021 at 11:08am
Puts a bit of perspective on Jeff Clark, surfing mavs what, ten years maybe more, solo, without ski, probably without vest (don't think they were around in the early days), no one in the line up to help if needed, and probably not even any spectators.

Vlogging crew need to settle with their video headline/leads. Pretty cringe.
Twiggy could have posted "20ft at 20s, Mavs airdrop," and it would have hit them feels a whole lot harder.
Crazy shit. Don't know how humans survive the underwater trauma. They must be super flexible/contortionist's.
Getting rinsed on a long period 4/5/6ft swell is fucked up enough.

That would be scary shit to see in the water.
stunetMonday, 19 Apr 2021 at 1:36pm
For mine, the most impressive thing is Twig's compsoure both immediately afterwards when he's on the back of the ski when you'd expect the adrenaline to be pumping, and then later in the day when the reality of what happened has had time to sink in.
In each instance he's completely calm and present.
I'd be punching holes in the air straight afterwards and then go and stare at a wall for a few hours.

could have been deeper and back doored that section.................

Anyone can hold their breath for 20 seconds but that's like sprinting for 100m first, then trying to hold your breath while a UFC fighter slaps you in the side of the head and throws you around the ring.
stunetMonday, 19 Apr 2021 at 7:30pm
...and all the anxiety that comes with thinking you're not going to hit the surface before the next wave rolls by and it starts all over again.
