Yellow Alert For Woz Finals To Run Tomorrow
With 24 hours till the waiting period begins, the Woz have issued a yellow alert.
This means the competition will likely begin tomorrow. As per the press release, the Woz will "assess the conditions in the morning and make the final decision by 7:30 a.m."
If it's comp-worthy they'll hit the green light and the one-day contest will start at 8am local time - 1am AEST, 11pm AWST.

That's the drama?
Leading edge of the new S/SW groundswell reached the Tanner buoy (southwestern-most deep water buoy in the NDBC's network) a few hours ago - 3ft at 16 seconds - though it's a faint signal.
FWIW, there's actually quite a few overlapping swell trains in the water (from a wide range of directions) so I'm not confident on the specifics from this offshore buoy at the moment.
Taking a quick look at other buoys closer to the mainland:
Mission Bay West (562m depth) is 2ft at 15.4.
Torrey Pines Outer (572m depth, just north of Blacks, SD) is 1.6ft at 15.4 seconds.
Torrey Pines Inner (20m depth) is 1ft at 12.5 seconds (doesn't seem to be picking up the new energy yet).
Oceanside Offshore (238m depth, further north) has a faint signal of 2ft at 15.5 seconds.
Red Beach Nearshore (16m depth, closest to Trestles) is 1.6ft at 15.4 seconds.
So what does it mean?
3-4ft reasonably consistent and favourable winds?
Broadly speaking, expectations are for inconsistent head high sets tomorrow, with light morning winds and afternoon sea breezes.
Once again, I will sleep soundly through this event and glance at the write up Sat/Sun.

Ben, they clear the line up for 2 hours and have mock heats, did the same thing last year.
you get a good read on who is in form. the trestles crowd is a night mare so this saves drama.
Based on that Caity has got it in the bag for the women but the mens is wide open. Ethan and Cros looking sharp. Feels wrong to see Jack in such tiny waves and Italo speed and redbull frantic airs

Out of the mens, Ethan looked the best to me.
Apart from one turn, Griff looked a bit weak on rail this time but I expect him to get a bit of a judging push. I think EE and John the only two that can win on rail, the others will have to make their airs count. But I expect EE to do his half air fin release turns and JJ to go all out anyway.
Definitely Ethan. If he wasn’t coming from 4th I’d say out and out favourite. His turns and speed are matched by no one there.

Q : Why the need to Test the Rashies (Very insightful observation & Question from the Crew!)
Firstly thanx for that...coz tbb is running a 10 year WSL review & that's another tech breakthru...Cheers!
Being honest...tbb held back to see what new tech WSL would rollout for this Final...good job crew!
A : Deserves a good answer...The finalists were trialling custom fitted Bio wired Rashies.
What to look for...
1. Chix usually bundle their loose Rashies in a knot (These newbies are tightly custom fitted!)
2. The sleeves are cut high but more flat banded like the Collars (Likely Bio metric RFID Ribbon Bands)
3. Check the Stage intros on Finals Day! See Aussies > Raised wire over left shoulder down the seams.
Note: tbb thinks each competitor may be fitted up with assist coz these are tightly fitted over wetties!
Think the past finals shirts were also fitted tight...but haven't noticed wires on them...(Need to check!)

2024 Finals Rashie wiring runs over the shoulder then mostly down front side but both seams...
Can't be sure, but tbb thinks one or two favour the right side...or possibly variations of both.
Weirdly the Blue Rashie colour disguises it and or physique or the roll of the wire may hide it.
Stands out most on The squared Aussie shouldered crew...less so on rounded shoulders.
Kinda like the wire rolls high or low over the shoulder blade riding in a pocket...maybe for comfort!
Pretty sure all have the wiring but...it seems to be personalized for each surfer's bios.
Some seem to have low sided flat pads (vs) Others have magnetic type sensor nodes.
Seemingly some have a Cradle-like Bra fitting ...think those nodes are at these Bra junctions.
Possibly customized to each surfer's Physical Bio needs but likely for same WSL IT metric base reads.
Guessing it's WSL or their Bookies as all got Custom Rashies at once... not trialling Wettie wires!
Important to stress that, coz WSL do allow surfers to hot wire their own custom wearable gear! (True!)
Crew might be aware of Men's Bio Bras or Woven Pads/Chips...exactly like that but for rashies...Ok!

Crew will notice new tech is trialled at Towers of Power Exotic Comps + Finals...
Each wear whatever arm candy but usually only the winner's weird new band or Watch pings WOTD.
Some surfers combo 3 or more of the above tech fashions...
Each would link > Judges Booth / Coach / Caddy-Team / Bookies + intel maybe sold on like other codes.
These Rashie wires the crew alerted to would likely free up wrist / finger / helmet options for others.
Meaning WSL can now sell a Slaves free Wrist...How much does a bookie hire that for?
As crew know...the more metrics you can fit...the bigger bucks come on board for a sure bet!
Sure...can on sell scanners to get inside live intel on each surfer...that's a 50 yr industry all on it's own!
