Surf Report Protocols

Don, it's all relative - mentioning locations that are well populated is OK, however mentioning specifics is not (ie 'the inside section at Currumbin Alley has been firing on the mid-arvo low tide, and should be good in a few hours'). Mentioning out-of-the-way spots is not OK. I haven't been aware of any location-directing in recent days - please email us directly if you think a reporter has overstepped the mark.

mr weather, one understands your lofty position here and across the highway but if this doesent seem like a way just to throw your weight around i dont know what does!
what would be the great tradgedy in some "reporter" saying surf here or there
sir ben gave you a succinct and one thinks well worded response
you had to edit your post , why? if you were only asking as a mere formality and not "throwing" your weight?
and your response was just as one would expect from a petulant child ! and one knows about petulance.....
just stick to what you do best and that is weather forcasting
this was bought to you by a very curious bigwayne swellnets self appointed investgative "reporter"

bigwayne, I believe Don edited his post before I responded. Thus concludes your investigative report on this topic. Back to the donut shop!

thankyou sir ben , kripy kremes all round

Coastalwatch have pretty much ruined the last vestige of surfing sanity within about 70 kms of where I live by giving very specific information.
Thanks Coastalwatch.
I believe that sometime ago this subject was discussed in detail on here but I couldn't find the original thread.
Anyone, the outcomes of the previous discussion I believe was that Swellnet was going to issue protocols to their surf reporters outlining the do's and don'ts of what they should be reporting in their daily surf reports. One of the don'ts was that they wouldn't be making suggestions on where to go and surf, rather they'd just report on the conditions at their local break.
Over the last few days I've noticed a particular reporter close to home has been suggesting where to go to surf. What happened to the protocols?
