I dont care to much for FB surfing groups, but i also don't care too much for the local board riders clubs or christian board riders clubs or whoever always hold comps on the best bank every weekend because they want to prove to each other how good they are, or the surf schools that make a business out of teaching people to surf causing more crowds when its already too crowded, or all the pricks that have crowded the Mentawais up with charter boats and resorts because they want to surf and make money at the expenses of everyone else in regard to crowds, they all suck i just wanna go surfing but they all screw it up for everyone.

surf comps are great indo for that exact reason! surfed at a mal comp, perfect 4-5 foot surfies point... all ours lol

Shaun is a bit of a dick sometimes, he went out fishing for a laugh to try and hook oc. Ended up oc was just the bait to hook the biggest blowfish "be cool".
I haven't seen any bullying, just people giving their opinions and some getting there point across in a humorous way, oc is a big boy and gave a bit of stick back. You know oc I did not load the gun in the first place.
I wish i had some local online group to share conditions, banks etc and save me some of the driving around i do each week looking for uncrowded waves but....
1. No one has every asked me to join.
2. The people I know with the best local surf info would be most against the idea of a "Surf group" because of same attitudes as expressed by most in this thread. That is keep it to yourself and only share it with those in the car park, the surf shop, workmates and blokes you see at the pub.
The surf group would be way more convenient especially during crowded holiday season when my usual network is harder to find. However, to those of my generation the idea of a facebook page is just not cricket, we are way to individual and self reliant for that.
Unfortunately it is completely normal for those in the younger generation to post everything online these days. It just more likely to be on snapchat, or whatapp or some other site i havent heard of yet rather than facebook.

I just came across facebook pages like wavehunters and melbourne surfer dudes and a few others, they seem to be full of euro's living here with a few australians big noting themselves. Are there groups like this in all the states . Are any of you guys in any of these come surf with me groups?
The biggest problem I have with these groups is that years ago when you had a group of mates surfing together traveling round the coast, generally there was only one real dickhead in the bunch and his mates would keep him in line. But now with social networking these dickheads break away from the crew they grew up with and join a group of dickheads. Which answers the frequently asked question whilst we are surfing, "where did all these dickheads come from?"
