Mick drives a Red 911 Porsche convertible ( I hope he is not on SN ( not the type imo :) ).

Had one day on a Kelp Break down Rye way .
Lots of days have been spooked by tubes near Mick Pearces place ( gosh Mick can surf and so tough ( played 1 game against him , luckily) - he is like Wayne Lynch imo ) and around the MP .
Most on SN probably know Mick P from surfing and his boards .
On the Mornington Peninsula he is also a Legend for his Football .
Especially up at Red Hill as a player and coach .
Ended up back at Rye , and he goes to their home games still .
MP and I played one Interleague game against each other at Rye .
Some guy gave Mick the WORST Hospital hand pass Ever ( probably deliberate ) and I had to run through him .
Most of the supporters from BOTH sides cheered ( especially his side haha ) as he went off .
He ended up coming back on ( MP always did ) , and ran straight to me ( thought I was fucked as MP can REALLY fight ) even though I new him ( bought a board )) .
I quickly said "Sorry Mick " .
He said . 'Thanks Pop , U could have fn killed me " .
He told me years later ribs were broken and wished I slowed down a bit before hitting him .
I said I didn't know it was U ( he was looking behind and had NFI was I coming either - a set up imo ) .
On a football field , MP made his team mates walk taller .
They always new he had their backs .

I was thinking of making a crossword for SN punters using only surfers, famous waves and surfing terminology, having it both as a cryptic and normal/ simile clues. Hours of puzzling over the Christmas holidays : )

At the time there was a real fear of your favourite low key spot being exposed to the world and it seemed like it was only a matter of time before every spot anywhere was listed, but then it all died in the arse.
Why did they die?
IMHO i think it was social media, people moving from being focussed on websites and even forums to their social media bubbles.

I get the irony in saying that on a website forum, but before social media website forums were big and very active especially with younger people, but for younger people its all moved to social media and other chat platform group's apps are popular.
Id love to see the exact stats on age demographic here, but it seems like most regular posters are between 40 to 70 many in that 50 to 60 age bracket, many say they dont do social media.
It seems like there is very few young teens here or even people in their 20s and 30's???

Only reminded recently that it is the first tune I remember ( and love ) hearing .
Guessing it was on the TV ( Black and White ) and made quite an impression on a 6 year old .
Quite a sad song (terrible ending :) , always brought a tear .

Dont know if it's been a thread before but i think it deserves a thread and actually a surfing related topic for once.
The issue discussed in another thread about naming spots online or sharing info about a wave, what can you say and not say? or whats too much?
Or how to deal with things if someone does mention a spot you really wish they wouldn't?
Or even if WOTD is a spot you really wish wasn't WOTD.
